Here are this week’s top games to watch:
Bismarck Legacy at Mandan, 5:45 p.m., Tuesday, January 28
Here’s a top WDA matchup to kick off the week. Mandan has been playing extremely well, winning four straight games since it lost to the Sabers a few weeks ago. Lakyn Darras and Sydney Gustavsson give the Braves one of the best one-two punches in the state. The Sabers have excellent depth, terrific defense and are getting excellent play from Alexis Dressler, Arianna Berryhill and Jaiden Baker.
Trenton at Beach, 7 p.m., Thursday, January 30
Something is going to give in this one. Trenton is 14-0 and blowing teams out of the water. Beach is 12-2 but both losses are to Montana teams and quietly dominating teams out of Region 6. Beach will play Killdeer on Monday, so the Buccaneers certainly have a tough test ahead of the matchup, but this could be one of the few competitive games Trenton plays.
Fargo Shanley at Devils Lake, 7:30 p.m., Friday, January 31
The two best teams in the EDC get together for what could, for all intents and purposes, decide the league title. Fargo Shanly has a chance to catch the Firebirds if they win but will also need a little help while the Firebirds, to this point, have been the dominant team in the league and are at least two games up on the rest of the contenders. Reile Payne and Hadley Huber give the Deacons arguably the best one-two punch in the state.
Thompson at Kindred, 6 p.m., Saturday, February 1
The week ends with an awesome Class B matchup as this is a game that we could see again in mid-March with a lot on the line. Kindred has been dominant all year with a combination of terrific defense and excellent offensive balance. Thompson has played a tougher schedule and is elite on the defensive end, but the Tommies have also shown that their offense is capable of holding them back.
