Here are last week’s top teams:
Bismarck
The Demons are in the thick of the race for a top-four spot in the WDA and their win Friday over a strong Bismarck St. Mary’s team is an important one. Bismarck won with depth, as seven players scored at least five points. Elle Hill led the way with 16 points and seven rebounds while Anna Schmid added 13 points on just three shot attempts.
Rugby
The Panthers have been even better than expected this year and earned two of their best wins of the season last week, beating Flasher in the Hoopster Classic before New Years and dominating in a win over Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood. Brooke Blessum has been terrific so far this year and scored 21 in the win over Flasher while Mykell Heidlebaugh was a two-way stud in the win over MLS.
Devils Lake
The Firebirds continued their roll with a come-from-behind win at West Fargo. Devils Lake has wins over two of the best teams in the EDC and looks like a legitimate favorite for the league title again. Jes Mertens and Ramsey Brown give them two legitimate difference-makers.
Four Winds/Minnewaukan
The Indians picked up one of the best wins of the season, beating Carrington 78-68 on Thursday. The Cardinals are legitimate contender in Region 3 and ranked in the top-10, so that was a game that will be valuable down the road as the Indicans progress into their regional competition.
