An aggressive 5’7 2023 guard, Williams is a passionate player who leaves it all on the court. She brings energy to the floor and has the ability to lead a team at the point, score the ball and play tough, physical defense.
“I’m also very passionate about the game and show it on the floor and I love to hype up my team, they deserve it,” she says.
After a strong summer running with the Missouri Phenom’s 16U EYBL team, Willliams says the experience helped her game grow as she faced the challenge of playing against a talented group of older players on the Nike circuit.
“We did well, but for most of us it was the first time on the EYBL circuit, so we had a lot of adversity thrown at us,” Williams said. “I was the youngest on the team, so this really prepared me for my High School season.”
Along the way, Williams drew offers from Virginia Tech, Missouri State, Arizona, Vanderbilt and others.
Williams says she is learning at the high school level this season as she adapts to a different style of play at the varsity level. Armed with a talented roster, Blue Springs is off to a 12-3 start this season.
“This season I’m learning a lot and how to adapt to a different paced game,” she said. “I like to run and I’m learning how to change my speed up more. HS ball is different then comp ball and some things are easier and some things are harder. Our season didn’t start how we wanted, so we are making changes and improving each day. I know my team has my back day in and day out, and we are doing all we can to make the senior’s last year one to remember.
“I have a long way to go, but they trust me as their PG and that means a lot. We are going to be a real tough by the end of the season.”
Williams said the biggest influence on her basketball career has been her trainer, Kansas City native Marcus Walker.
“He’s been there for me and really motivates me,” she said. “He’s hard on me when I need it and is there when I need lifted up, he’s family. He has helped me believe that the sky’s the limit. Definitely my brother and if nobody has my back I know he does! I also am blessed with a lot of great coaches all year that influence me.”
A fan of the late Kobe Bryant, as well as NBA star Steph Curry and WNBA standouts Cappie Pondexter, Sue Bird, Jordan Canada and Chloe Jackson, Williams says she takes various aspects of each player’s game.
