Class AA
(Jan 21) Sioux Falls Roosevelt 57 @ Sioux Falls Washington 50: RHS is shocking every opponent. Not just with wins but with how they’re winning. No clear-cut scoring leader or anything of that sort. They have multiple leaders. One day its senior Macey Nielson (PGH #21 2020) another day its senior Tatum Kooima (PGH #44 2020). They have some underclassman with playing experience and a few new freshmen that jump start things for them. Washington is still trying to figure out whats the right combination. They have one of the most talented teams but with a lot of new moving parts. We are midway through the season so the kinks should be all kicked out. With PGH topped ranked junior Sydni Schetnan and sophomore Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda, WHS will for sure never be counted out of the game. (Sydni 24 Points, Tatum 16 Points)
(Jan 21) Harrisburg 58 vs Brandon 42
(Jan 25) Rapid City Stevens 40 @ O’Gorman 58: Injuries are a part of the game. That being sad, this matchup was slated to be one of the best pound for pound regular season matchup this year. However, RC Steven Kayah Watson (PGH #3 2020) injured her leg the day before during a game against Roosevelt. So we didn’t get a true #1 vs #2 team matchup, or even a top 3 player ranking (2020) matchup. RC Steven didn’t back down though. They played hard for their fearless leader. New comer Grace Ellis, a 5’9 jr from the twins cities, controlled the rock. Sophomore Jayda McNabb (PGH #12 2022) played hard, as she always do. The game was close but not for long. Emma Ronsiek (PGH #1 2020) did Emma Ronsiek things. Izzy Moore (PGH #7 2021),is the perfect compliment to Ronseik. They feed off each other, the play hard and run the floor. Both are really good defender. Ronsiek is the better scorer but Moore finds her way in and around the hoop.
(Jan 25) Brandon Valley 53 @ Sioux Falls Lincoln 63: The Pats of Sioux Falls Lincoln needed every bucket of Morgan Hansen (PGH #5 2020) 31 points. Lincoln had control for most of the game. Brandon Valley would get cut the deficient to 6 or 8 points. But then here goes Hansen. A key three late in the third quarter was big. Hansen set up her defender with a nice jab. The defender took a step back, then it was booms away, splash! Hilary Behrens (PGH #1 2023) would counter with a nice drive to basket. Setting up another run for BV. But then here goes Hansen again. A nice back door cut, followed with an and one. That possession put it out of reach for BV. The Pats moved on to 7-2 in the season (Morgan Hansen 31 points, Hilary Behrens 15 points)
