Seton Catholic is notorious for its incredibly strong defense, which is again what they put on display tonight. There was no shortage of steals in tonight’s game, as the Sentinels kept their eyes on the ball and were aggressive when it came to making a move.
It was an absolutely dominant first half for Seton Catholic. Saguaro, who is by no means a weak team, struggled in just about every way possible when it came to defense against Seton Catholic. Going into the half, Seton Catholic was up 47-19.
Saguaro made some adjustments at the half but it was not enough for this incredibly solid Seton Catholic team. They were able to continue grinding Saguaro down and making the lead wider and wider.
For Seton Catholic, the junior trio of Annemarie Trojanovich, Bella DiGiovanni and Amanda Barcello really helped kick things into the next level. Both DiGiovanni and Barcello did a wonderful job of getting rebounds, assists and buckets.
For DiGiovanni specifically, she has shown a ton of growth in her game from the beginning of the season, while Trojanovich was able to once again her ability to shoot from behind the arc. She had four threes in the game, three of them coming in the fourth quarter. When it comes to rebounds, Barcello remains the queen, as she’s always tracking the ball to ensure she’s right where she needs to be when it comes down.
What sets Seton Catholic apart from other good teams and makes them great is their attention to basics. Ball handling and ball movement always seems to be fluid with this team. Rarely do they ever let the ball get away from them when dribbling, and the little things like this help prevent a number of turnovers for the Sentinels.
On the AIA schedule, Seton Catholic is currently undefeated with a 13-0 record, while Saguaro falls to 11-3. Seton Catholic will , while Saguaro will host Mesquite on Friday.
