Here, Prep Girls Hoops takes a look at several 2020 forwards putting together a strong season.
Mallory Cowman, 6’1, F 2020, Circle
A terrific forward who has strong athleticism, great lengths and the ability to change a game on both ends of the court. She can run the floor and clean up plays underneath the basket. She has terrific awareness for the ball and can block shots, score second chance looks and dominate offensively inside. She can play facing the basket or with her back towards it, showing great versatility as a post scorer adding an array of post moves The giver open looks.She’s averaging 12.6 ponts, 6.9 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 2.5 blocks per game. She’s shooting 53 percent from the field and shooting 68 percent from the field hitting 15-22.
Mekenzie Hefley, 6’0, C, 2020, Hutchinson
A strong and physical Center for Hutchinson who plays an aggressive style around the low post area. She can score when she has an open look around the glass and is a good rebounder and shot-blocker. She gets rid of the ball quickly and gets touches do to her length and feel around the glass.
Alyvia Owens, 5’10, F/C, 2020, Buhler
An extremely impactful performer for bueller, Owens can extend the floor with her 3-point range and has the ability to play strong inside and dominate the boards. Owens is a nice player who brings hustle and strength and physicality to the floor. She runs the floor well and can get up and make plays in transition through contact which allows her to get opportunities at the free-throw line. She is very aggressive and can play physical situations and has the ability to confuse defense has with her inside and outside play.
Kara Stutterheim, F, 2020, Buhler
A good defensive player download who helps her teammate Alyvia Owens control the tempo around the glass. she has good height and long arms and can get up the floor and block shots as she looks to contest plays and apply strong pressure to the ball. She can also score at times and looks to capitalize on open looks.
Dani Winslow, 6’1, F 2020, Olathe South
A great defensive presence who can bock shots, force turnovers and make a variety of plays through contact. Winslow is an excellent Playmaker who has great ball-handling skills and the ability to connect across the boards. She is a hustle player who rebounds well and can go coast to coast and finish around the glass. she shoots a high-percentage shot from the floor and has great vision, elite awareness and terrific overall athleticism. Winslow has signed to play basketball for Missouri State.
