With the exception of juniors Mia Topping, Jada Hollie, and Brittney Flexer, all listed players are from the 2020 class and freshman Elsie Jones joins another freshman for the opening Gold Top Performers article, teammate Kadia Ward
J’lynn Gus driving between Malia Linton and Mia ToppingJ’lynn Gus-5’6 G (Waco Midway) she showed me enough to add her to the 2020 Top 100 plus list because she does so many of the simple things I love to see that might not show up in any stats, like follows her shot, sees the floor and understands how to create off the dribble which all can lead to something else, baskets. She sees the floor, plays the passing lane and can score
Reaghan Ridge-5’5 G (Waco Midway) she’s athletic, can play defense baseline to baseline as well as take defenders off the dribble but she can create her shot to hit the midrange or the long ball and that’s while being heavily guards
Mia Topping-5’8 G (Timber Creek) I talked about her teammates, Kelliah Walker, improved poise but that’s one thing she always had, even in elementary school because she always showed it on the court. Another thing that has always been there is her desire and ability to come up big in the clutch, she did it again during the stretch and her attacking the rim or hitting the big shot was instrumental in her team winning it all
Malia Linton-5’10 G (Timber Creek) playing the “silent assassin” role is something she has come accustomed to as she showed she could score with her back to the basket, score off the dribble or just for fun, knock down the long ball. She also defends and rebounds, on both ends
Jada Hollie and Dabresha LambJada Hollie (Trimble Tech) she has the body that just applies and takes punishment, finishes strongly with contact and rebounds on both ends. She plays defense and blocks shots, and also alters them but when she started dropping the long ball, smh
Dabresha Lamb (Trimble Tech) athleticism through the roof as she can rebound and ignite the break herself but she battles, for everything and although I loved her attacking the basket and finishing strong after the lick, that midrange pull-up is a lost art and she definitely showed it
Laylah Davis and Alyssa LaFontaineLaylah Davis-5’8 G (Boswell) speaking of the midrange pull-up, she too has it in fact she blocks shots, uses her athletic ability nicely that includes attacking from the wings or straight down the middle but she also can stretch the defense by dropping the long ball
Alyssa LaFontaine-5’11 G (Boswell) I love using the search bars on my site, not just to show how smart I am and was on predicting these players, well actually that is the only reason and I caught this young lady way back in 2013. She’s heading to Colorado afterward and the senior will do some damage because she has the college-ready body now, she can finish or step out and shoot the mid and or long-range
Elsie Jones defending Jillian SowellBrittney Flexer-5’8 G (Southlake Carroll) I love heady guards that can run a team, under pressure because one more time, “the game starts at the one” always has, always will and when you comprehend the simple things like making the right pass to the right person, you’re on to something when you add “can handle the ball”. It also helps when you can score and she can hit the shot, mid to long
Elsie Jones-5’9 G (Midlothian) I always enjoy seeing freshmen bring it, that’s why I try and catch players early, before high school and hopefully have cooperation from clueless people in receiving a non-erroneous roster but I don’t even know if I’ve seen her before but I saw enough to see she’s on to something. Good athlete understands how to take defenders off the dribble and is showing a nice pull-up and the best thing about freshmen, never mind
