She impressed me before she even played middle school and I called her a #D1Lock before she received her first BCS offer in the 7th grade so she broke out a long time ago but here are some others
Loghan Johnson-5’10 G (Tompkins) watching her progression over the past three years just makes me smile because the first time I saw her, I knew what was coming, a nightmare to defend. Her pull-up jumper, as well as her ability to attack from any angle, was one of the reasons Tompkins made a run and to be honest, I thought they had a shot at make the 6A semifinals. She’s young, her team is hungry after having a taste and with her being a year older, combined with many key players returning, watch out
Flyin Adeleye-6’0 P (Tompkins) power in the paint is always good and she showed that a very young age when I said she was definitely a next-level player and certain things would elevate her and those things have happened. She had a growth spurt, the damage she was doing four inches shorter showed me her desire and when you have a BEASTLIKE mindset, like going after everything, on the boards, in the paint, in the stands, that’s all good. She has developed a nice “face the basket” offense and attacks off the dribble but her scoring on the inside is solid
Ese Ogbevire-5’6 PG (Fulshear) her name preceded her and to say I was pleased at what I saw in the first two minutes would be an understatement. You have guards that attack strong and you have those who explode, she’s the latter and that turbocharged first step is going create some problems over the next few years. To top that off, she’s under control and can be flying the lane, see the floor and make the right pass, in traffic but she also zig-zags her way almost effortlessly to the rim
Shalayne Gould-5’8 G (North Shore) moved up from JV due to injury and is about to move up on the Watch List. Years ago, I saw her knack for playing the passing lane and ability to handle the ball in traffic while going full speed and coast to coast and that’s still there, only better. Her athleticism and hunger ties in together nicely as she’s one of those “never takes a play off” player that helped her school reach the playoffs. She still has plenty of upside but what she has a foundation is something you can’t teach
Jaeden McMillin-6’0 F (College Station) my connection kept saying “just wait, you’ll see” and as usual, they were correct but her length and height tie in together nicely as she can hit the mid to long-range with ease, create her shot off of the dribble and attack the basket, finishing with contact and she also rebounds on both the offensive and defensive ends. I also like her court awareness, she understands how to switch as well as play the passing lane and can “man up” in the half-court or baseline to baseline as she has helped lead her squad to the Region semifinals in 5A
