Aleighya Fontenot coming off of a 9 three-pointer game was on fire ion the opening period with 10 points, however, Clear Springs kept inching away and had 4 players in double digits on their way to a 49-46 and will face undefeated Cypress Creek later today. Here are the top performers
Clear Springs
Kenna Gibson-her three at the halftime buzzer was the turning point that helped change the momentum because not only did it pull her squad within three, it helped ignite them to a 17-8 third quarter to take the lead and head into the fourth with a 33-27 lead. Gibson finished with 10 and numerous assists but that buzzer-beater…
Niyah Johnson-led her squad with 16 points and was just shy of a double-double but the post continues to show improvement and energy. Numerous putbacks or just fighting to keep the ball alive played a big part in her team advancing
Kylie Minter-one of the best guards in the area at creating her shot under pressure and she loves pressure situations, especially taking the shot while under it. She finished with 11 points, including a big basket to keep the lead
D’Nae Johnson-scored 10 points giving her squad four players in double digits and she basically got hers in the flow and from her defense, she’s one of the areas top senior defensive guards. Her speed and playing the passing lane was vital
Ridge Point
Aleighyah Fontentot-she hit some of the biggest shots I’ve seen her hit in her career and many were in the clutch. I didn’t see the 9 threes live but I’ve seen her drop the long ball well a few times but this was different as she attacked and finished as well as shot the ball from deep
Raven Adams-set teammates up for gimmes, that’s nothing new but her on-ball defense showed she is more than a one-dimensional player as she came up with numerous steals and ignited the break but the intensity she brought from start to finish is something you can’t teach
Marchelle Willis-she hit a big three, made a steal and an assist to help her team beat Dulles a few weeks ago and history was on the verge of repeating itself as she knocked down a huge three and came out of nowhere to steal the ball and hit her teammate for a three-point attempt that rimmed out which would’ve sent the game into overtime
Dala Allen-she put in work in the paint and by that I mean rebounded strongly on both ends as well as did a good job defending. She also kept the ball alive on the offensive end, that’s equally important because it kept them with possession and led to scores
