The Sabers are currently 16-0 and winning in just about every way. They’ve had their share of dominant wins, some hotly-contested wins, games where the offense shines and times when the defense carries the way. Depth is a strength for the Sabers and Alexis Dressler is having a terrific senior year, averaging 12 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
Bismarck Century
The Patriots have just the one loss to the Sabers but are 4-0 with three blowout wins since then. Century has such good depth with players who are capable of actually making a play and a difference on the floor. It’s hard to prepare for and matchup with because it is a different handful of players just about every night.
Devils Lake
The Firebirds have all but wrapped up another league title thanks to wins over Fargo Shanley and Grand Forks Red River in the last week. Devils Lake is 14-0 on the season and winning with terrific balance as five players average double-figures in scoring.
Fargo Shanley
The Deacons probably missed their chance to get into the mix towards winning the EDC last week when they lost by four to Devils Lake. At 11-3, Fargo Shanley is still gunning for a top-three finish in the league.
Mandan
The Braves lost twice last week, dropping contests to Bismarck Legacy and Minot. Mandan is getting great play from Sydney Gustavsson and Lakyn Darras, but needs a little more from the rest of the group if it is going to compete for a top-three finish in the league.
Bismarck
The Demons have struggled offensively most of the season, but depth and defense continue to keep the team afloat. Now on a three-game winning streak and sitting at 10-5, Bismarck has the look of a top-three team in the WDA. With six games remaining, the Demons likely need to go 4-2 or so to secure a top-four finish.
Fargo Davies
The Eagles are on a four-game winning streak and have a chance to deal a crippling blow to Fargo Shanley in the race for the No. 2 spot in the EDC when the two teams meet up at the end of the week. Fargo Davies beat the Deacons earlier in the year and holds a half-game lead on them for that spot in the league.
Bismarck St. Mary’s
The Saints are one of the most consistently inconsistent teams in the state, enjoying stretches of excellent play followed by struggles. Offense has been hard to come by for Bismarck St. Mary’s all year as they are shooting just 35 percent from the field and 21 percent from the 3-point line. But defense has been steady and the quartet of seniors including Maria Mann and Abbi Kopp have kept the team afloat.
Grand Forks Red River
The Roughriders have clearly revealed themselves to be the fourth best team in the EDC, as they are 0-2 against Devils Lake, 0-2 against Fargo Davies and 0-1 against Fargo Shanley. The Roughriders are 8-0 and winning by 25.3 points per game against the rest of the league.
Jamestown
The Bluejays got a terrific performance from its three studs last week in a win over Turtle Mountain, getting 22 points and five assists from Kameron Selvig, 20 points and seven rebounds from Grace Hegerle and 18 points, four rebounds and seven assists from Ella Falk. When those three are going well, this team is good enough to beat anybody.
