Here’s a look at Region 5
Favorite: Flasher
A year after winning just nine games, the Bulldogs have 17 wins on the year including two to claim the District 9 title. As the No. 1 seed heading into Region 5, Flasher has the balance, depth and experience to go even further. Faith Marion is one of the best two-way players in the region. Tymber Boldt is a terrific player who can score and rebound at a high rate and the Bulldogs have a solid cache of role players up and down the lineup.
Contender: Shiloh Christian, Underwood
The Skyhawks won the region a year ago and while they turned over a good chunk of the lineup, they are still talented and capable of making a deep run. Jacie Hall is one of the best post players in the region and can control a game from the paint against just about anybody. She anchors the defense and is a real presence. Grace Kelly is a solid running mate up front. Kelsey Mischel is a leader on the perimeter and Aliya Schock has had a lot of good moments throughout the year.
Underwood is 17-5 on the year and just cruised through District 10 with three double-digit victories. The Comets have a really solid core of experienced players who can do damage. Tasha Snyder is a stat-stuffer who can take over a game for stretches and seniors Maggie Eng and Milah Kibbel are reliable perimeter hands.
Watch Out For: Grant County
Grant County has traditionally been one of the top teams in this region and while the Huskies are the equivalent of the No. 4 seed, they are formidable. Isabelle Boyer is one of the best individual players in the region and can dominate a game on both ends of the floor like few others. Molly Wetzel and Madison Meyer are steady seniors who can score, make plays and knock down shots. The Huskies have size, experience, scoring ability and can get after it defensively.
