A look today at the Cincinnati portion of the D2 sectionals, with games at Walnut Hills. Roger Bacon and Indian Hill are the clear favorites to advance but several teams are challenging for the upset. Division 2 Sectionals @ Walnut Hills Thursday, February 13 #10 Archbishop McNicholas v #4 Mount Healthy, 6:00- even through they are struggling, McNicholas is looking for the upset in the opener. Grace Barnes is only a freshman scoring nearly 8 ppg, while 5-6 senior Maddie Koche comes in at 7 ppg. Mount Healthy is solid top to bottom and is led by Noel Weathers a sophomore at 12.2, Whitney Henschen a freshman at 11.1 and Breanna Clemons a junior at just over 10. #7 New Richmond v #6 Taylor, 7:30- New Richmond is 7-10 at the draw, but has three solid players looking to contribute. Allie Bird is a senior at 7.5 points, Abby Maness is a junior scoring just over seven and Julie Keith is a sophomore right at seven points per game. Taylor has a pair of players to watch, as Ashley Bucher is a 5-7 senior (13.3) and Julia Gooding is a 6-foot junior (7.9). Saturday, February 15 #5 Wyoming v #8 North College Hill, 11:00- this could be a close and competitive game as two solid teams meet in the first round. Wyoming brings in 5-4 sophomore Nia Kemper averaging 15 points per game, while the multidimensional Meredith Bernholdt is a 6-foot junior averaging 8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. North College Hill is a .500 team and will bring into the game 5-7 freshman Ranlei Freeman averaging close to 10 points per game, with 5-6 sophomore Anae Bell at just under nine points. The winner of this game gets #3 Hughes in round two, as they took a bye. Hughes is loaded with scoring including Keeja Williams a junior averaging 15, Tamira Scott a junior at 13.4, Kyrah Ewing a senior at 13.4 and sophomore Jessie Branch at 11.7. #9 Shroder v #11 Batavia, 12:30- This battle will be another game that could go either way, with the advantage to Schroder. Batavia is led by Kennedy Williams a 5-9 sophomore at 10.2 and Olivia Patel a 5-3 sophomore at 7.7. #12 Goshen v #2 Indian Hill 2:00- The second-seeded Indian Hill squad are the favorites to advance to the districts in this bracket. Senior Maddie Antenucci is a 5-10 wing averaging 18.1 points, while 5-7 sophomore Ella Riggs is at 15.8 and playing well. Annie Isphording is an up and coming 5-9 sophomore making strides as the season progresses. Goshen has Abby Strunk who scores at a rate of 7.3 and Gaby Maco at 5.6. #1 Roger Bacon v #14 Aiken, 6:00- The final game of the day pits the top seeded Spartans against the Aiken team hoping to keep it close. Roger Bacon is loaded through their lineup and won the GCL Coed Division. Clarissa Craig is a 6-3 junior who is a tough matchup for Aiken. She is averaging 14.1 but there is a lot to go with her. Kelly Brenner is a 5-10 sophomore who scores at a rate of 12.2, while Kylee Shepherd is a 5-10 junior scoring 12.0 per game. Lyric Harris is another tough problem in this game, averaging 9 points per game. The winner plays #13 Woodward, who is led by Ti'Ajia Christopher a 5-4 senior (15.2) and Keinizah Fairfax, a 6-0 senior (14.5).
