Watching the transformation from both #58 [player_tooltip player_id="136345" first="Niyah" last="Johnson"] (Clear Springs) and #55 [player_tooltip player_id="136342" first="Tierra" last="Simon"] (Heights) during the playoffs told me a lot as both players, who will probably be recruited as posts, showed they could step outside of the paint to score and defend. This also was something I got from #30 [player_tooltip player_id="136320" first="Mackenzie" last="Wurm"] (Allen) during my Metroplex Trifecta Holiday Tournament coverage as the 6’4 post also showed she can do other things than just score inside and rebound. Several of these players started out as posts but have added more to their games over the years and are among the top in their class
[player_tooltip player_id="65876" first="Jada" last="Malone"] (The Village School)
Current Rank #1
Malone’s desire and work ethic is second to none and this explains why she can step out of the paint to shoot the mid to long and handle the ball in the open court, this helped her team win state (TAPPS)
[player_tooltip player_id="67966" first="Aniyah" last="Johnson"] (Red Oak)
Current Rank #7
Johnson’s athleticism is off the charts, watching her snag a rebound and go coast to coast and elevating over defenders is scary yet she can face the basket for the mid or finish strongly
[player_tooltip player_id="136313" first="Da’Necia" last="Trusty"] (Hastings)
Current Rank #22
Trusty learned how to take games over on the offensive end during the high school season and her improved ball-handling under pressure was key
[player_tooltip player_id="136317" first="Zarria" last="Carter"] (Mansfield)
Current Rank #27
Carter showed me her "ups" over the school season and kept going up and away as she is overpowering and can finish multiple ways as well as exploding off the dribble
[player_tooltip player_id="136319" first="Jade" last="Goynes"] (North Crowley)
Current Rank #29
Goynes’ athletic ability can leave you in a daze as she just attacks relentlessly and finishes acrobatically. Nice pull-up in traffic keeps defenders guessing
[player_tooltip player_id="97647" first="Zaria" last="Rufus"] (Duncanville)
Current Rank #36
Rufus is athletic and she attacks and finishes but she also brings something else to the table that played a huge part in her team winning state (6A) she plays the passing lane very well
[player_tooltip player_id="97930" first="Taylor" last="Jackson"] (Cy Creek)
Current Rank #50
Jackson is one of the most improved players in Texas, she helped her squad to runner-up in the state (6A) by adding more to her offensive skill set which included facing the basket for baskets
