It seems like it was years ago now, but only a few shorts weeks ago the top schools in Class 6 were battling it out for their chance at a state title. The games definitely did not disappoint in the intensity of competition, and there were a few players who made their presence known, even if it wasn’t in putting up big numbers.

[caption id="attachment_155069" align="alignnone" width="300"] Kohler focuses in on defense during Madison’s state quarterfinal against West Springfield[/caption]In a game where one of Madison’s biggest threats to winning the game was in the post where they aren’t as deep, Kohler stepped up and delivered solid, sound defense in the paint. It slowed a lot of momentum for West Springfield, as they seem to score the majority of their points in the paint. In the second half, she got herself in the right place at the right time for a few easy baskets that helped Madison slowly but surely pull away in the second half for the win.
Lexi White (West Springfield, G/F, 2021)

In the last game of her junior season, White reminded everyone why she is one of the best all-around players in the region. Finishing through contact, rebounding, and making plays defensively were all on display against a talented Madison squad. Expect her to be even better in her senior season.
[player_tooltip player_id="99469" first="Aurea" last="Gingras"] (Edison, G, 2020)

Gingras helped Edison stay composed and poised in a game that got them very out of character in the first half with several turnovers. In the second half she ran the offense well, handled full-court pressure against Western Branch’s tough guards, and helped Edison capitalize on Western Branch’s mistakes late in the game to coast the Eagles to victory.
[player_tooltip player_id="21944" first="Alyssa" last="Andrews"] (F, Colgan, 2021)
Despite the overtime loss to Western Branch, Andrews had a monster game with a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds. She is the energy giver of the Sharks, and will definitely be gunning to take them even far next season in her final year. Well deserving of First Team All-Met honors in the Washington Post.
