Alexis Cortez Alexis Cortez 5'10" | SF Allen | 2023 State TX (Lady Drive Nation) sold me last summer, she sprained an ankle and couldn’t finish the deal but she is the deal. Layla Conley Layla Conley 5'7" | SG Harlan | 2023 State TX (SA Finest) also blew me away with 5 straight NBA three pointers the first time I saw her and I think I said, “she’s going to set some records” and she’s definitely on her way but the versatility I saw from a healthy Aysia Proctor Aysia Proctor 5'7" | CG Clemens | 2023 State TX (SA Finest) told me there would be a Gamble on her as well, the pun was definitely intended but so many of these freshmen just blew me away, especially with their progression.
Mia Galbraith Mia Galbraith 5'10" | SG Lake Travis | 2023 State TX (AD Elite) was scary on the offensive end, she has just turned into a scoring machine because she finds ways to put the ball in the basket. Taylor Haggan Taylor Haggan 5'11" | PF John Paul II | 2023 State TX (Team Lex Nation) left me speechless at PassThaBall’s The South, utilizing her power in the paint but she mixed it up during the event showing finesse. Words can’t describe Ja’Shelle Johnson Ja’Shelle Johnson 5'5" | PG SA Johnson | 2023 State TX (SA Finest) but my phrase of “another JJ that’s DYNOMITE” might give you a clue because trust me, she’s going to explode even harder. Aniyah Sanford Aniyah Sanford 5'5" | PG Langham Creek | 2023 State TX (Houston United) definitely continues to add the little things that make her a legitimate one yet she is also showing she can score from all over the court. I didn’t make it to the state tournament to see McKinna Brackens McKinna Brackens 5'10" | SF Fairfield | 2023 State TX help lead Fairfield to a state tournament but I’ll catch the Texas Elite star when the season cranks up, BTW she was named MVP in the tournament
I knew nothing about the trio I’m about to add to The Watchlist, Saylor Upshaw Saylor Upshaw 5'10" | SF San Marcos | 2023 State TX (AD Elite) long and athletic is the base folks and watching her go coast to coast standing around 6’0, under control told me a lot but one thing that’s better than telling is showing and Ellie Hamlin is definitely one of those throwback players I talk about frequently. Her Basketball-IQ (BB-IQ) coupled with her explosiveness off of the dribble makes her a threat as she sees the floor and can score either by attacking or from the outside but one of the biggest surprises of the event came from Jamie Reude Jamie Reude 5'6" | PG Boerne | 2023 State TX (Players First) and when you impress me in the warmups, I know something special is going to happen yet it was more special than I thought as she shoots the three-ball effortlessly and accurately yet she can mix it up and score from just about everywhere as well as set teammates up for easy baskets
