I took some time to decide on the Prep Girls Hoops Arizona Players of the Year list. I really wanted to get this right and put a ton of thought and preparation into this list. Many college coaches, high school coaches, and local scouts were consulted in this list. Of course, everyone’s opinion is different and there’s no shame in that.
You will probably notice some notable players left off the list, let me preface this by saying that only 1 player per team was allowed on the list. Here are the Players of the Year!
[player_tooltip player_id="36670" first="Ali" last="Zelaya"] 6’4 2020 F Millennium

[player_tooltip player_id="36670" first="Ali" last="Zelaya"] was the driving force behind Millennium’s impressive state title run. She put up big stats and led her team to the eventual state championship. Big time finish to a big time player!
[player_tooltip player_id="112671" first="Senya" last="Rabouin"] 5’5 2020 G Shadow Mountain
Rabouin had to step up big time this season after losing Heavenly Greer to transfer and [player_tooltip player_id="36676" first="Dyamond" last="Butler-Worley"] to injury. Rabouin elevated her game and led them deep into the playoffs. Senya broke numerous records at Shadow Mountain, closing off a historic high school career.
[player_tooltip player_id="136239" first="Kiya" last="Dorroh"] 6’1 2021 G/F Sabino
Dorroh also had to step up her game after Kam Rhodes went down to injury. Dorroh developed her game and became more of a facilitator. This led her team to the 3A State Championship. Overall, very impressive season from Dorroh. Sabino faced a ton of adversity and criticism this season and overcame it all in part to Dorroh’s efforts on and off the court.
[player_tooltip player_id="136237" first="Marisa" last="Davis-Jones"] 6’1 2021 F Valley Vista
[player_tooltip player_id="136237" first="Marisa" last="Davis-Jones"] really had an impressive season. She led her team to an undefeated season and the 6A State Title. She was a steady hand for Valley Vista while the team battled injury and had players sit out due to transfer rules.
[player_tooltip player_id="72619" first="Alyssa" last="Brown"] 6’2 2021 F Sahuaro
[player_tooltip player_id="72619" first="Alyssa" last="Brown"] once again led the state in scoring and led her team to the 4A State Title game. Brown won Gatorade Player of the Year and broke a ton of scoring records.
[player_tooltip player_id="136238" first="Madison" last="Conner"] 6’0 2021 G Perry
Conner was the driving force behind Perry this season. She’s an incredible talent and she really took on that leadership role both with her play and mentality. Conner put up big stats and led her team to a successful season.
[player_tooltip player_id="136246" first="Amanda" last="Barcello"] 5’11 2021 G/F Seton Catholic
Seton Catholic was an absolute machine this year and it was actually quite difficult to pick one player to represent their team as all chipped in. However, during the State Title game, Barcello really stepped her game up and took control of the game both offensively and defensively. This big time performance lands her on the list representing the 4A State Champions.
[player_tooltip player_id="113515" first="Amyah" last="Reaves"] 5’5 2021 G Hamilton
Reaves is a player who does not get nearly as much praise as she deserves. She was the hands down leader of Hamilton this season. They had a great year and made it to the 6A State Title game. Reaves was a defensive anchor and ran most of their offense. Great overall season for Reaves.
[player_tooltip player_id="136240" first="Jess" last="Finney"] 5’11 2021 G Chaparral
Finney has to overcome some adversity this season and step up more as a leader. After [player_tooltip player_id="36675" first="Anna" last="Ostlie"] went down with an injury, most people counted Chaparral out. However, Finney pulled up her boot straps and led her team to the playoffs and upset higher seeded Chandler. Big time performances from Finney all season long.
[player_tooltip player_id="36791" first="Kennedy" last="Basham"] 6’6 2022 F Pinnacle
Basham took a big leap in her development this season. She looked like a force to be reckoned with and I am very excited to see where her game goes from here. She led Pinnacle to a great season and they were ranked within the Top 5 all season long.
Congrats to all of these girls on a successful season! For all the non-seniors, we can’t wait to see how you perform next season!
