As we go deeper into the state tournament, there have been some takeaways from the Class 5 State Tournament. Princess Anne (26-1) earning their way to their 12th consecutive state championship game, easing pass Woodgrove (18-8) 107-45. Princess Anne was hot from the start, outscoring Woodgrove 27-6 in the first quarter. Princess Anne is stacked with talent, in which, all of there seniors have committed to colleges on full rides. Here are a few of the standout players that we had from the semifinal state tournament game:
<strong> <span style="color: #0000ff">Aziaha James</span> - Princess Anne - 2021</strong>
Aziaha is a 5’11 extremely talented guard/forward who had a game-high of 32 points, shooting 15-22 from the field. She outscored Woodgrove alone in the first half with 19 points, in which, Woodgrove only had 17 total in the first half. Aziaha also added 6 steals and 5 rebounds, contributing on both ends of the ball. She is coming off a career-high night of 41 points in the state quarterfinals game, giving her 73 points in 2 playoff games.

Jasha is a 5’8 guard who has earned Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year honors. She was tied as the second-leading scorer of the game with 16 points. Jasha is coming off a 25 point performance in the state quarterfinal game, including 8 steals and 6 assists to advance to the semifinals. She is averaging 14.5 points, 4.8 assists, 3.9 steals and 2.7 rebounds throughout the season.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="149853" first="Zakiya" last="Stephenson"] - Princess Anne - 2023</strong>
Zakiya is a 5’5 guard who is quick and aggressive on the defensive end, causing turnovers and turning them into transition points. She had 13 points, helping her team advance to the state finals. Zakiya is going to be exciting to see over the next few years.

<strong><span style="color: #0000ff">Sophia Coates</span> - Woodgrove - 2020</strong>
Sophia is a 5’9 forward who led her team in scoring with 16 points, including 2 three-pointers, doing all that she could against a dominant Princess Anne team. She had 16 points and 8 rebounds in her previous game against William Fleming to help her team advance to the state semifinals. Sophia has earned First Team All-District and First Team All-Region this season.
<strong><span style="color: #0000ff">Tara Mullen</span> - Woodgrove - 2022</strong>
Tara is a 5’7 guard/forward who was the second-leading scorer on her team, scoring 14 points, including 2 three-pointers. She plays tough on the inside but can step out and shoot well from behind the arc.
