Continue ReadingMustang absolutely dominated the Broken Arrow Tigers on Thursday night at Memorial High in Tulsa. Broken Arrow was outscored in every quarter and never led. Mustang used their superior size and tremendous defense to put an end to Broken Arrow’s season by a score of 69-38. Both teams showed great potential and there were high-level prospects on both sides. Like the game that preceded it – Norman High’s defeat of Sapulpa – this area final also featured some star prospects from the class of 2023.
Unfortunately, one of Mustang’s 2023 stars, Jordyn Rollins did not play on this night but, should be available for the next game. Rollins is a 6-1 post player and a tremendous rebounder. As a freshman, she is only beginning to tap into her potential as a player. In football, we talk about teams that look good coming off this bus. This usually refers to teams with very large players who intimidate the opponent. Whether those guys can play or not is often irrelevant. The goal is to get into the opponents’ heads. Misuraca is intimidating in stature. Unlike players that only look good coming off the bus, Misuraca is an absolute force once off the bus. Everything for Mustang was running through Misuraca on Thursday night. She rarely missed a shot inside and a lot of those shots were very, very contested. Misuraca’s size is a difference-maker, but her abilities are the real head-turner.

Nobody that saw Broken Arrow play this season missed the things that Jones was doing on the court. Every game that I have seen of the Tigers this year, it is clear that this team belongs to Jones. Because she is a sophomore, this will be the case for the next few years. Jones is slight, to put it mildly. But, that does not stop her from driving headlong into the defense at every opportunity. On Thursday night, shots were not falling for her as much as they have in the past, but she did not let that stop her. Shooters gotta shoot, right?
Jason Green – Prep Girls HoopsLunden Foreman | 5-6 | Fr. – G | Mustang
Talia Pogi | 5-8 | Fr. – G | Mustang
The future is bright for Oklahoma prep girls’ basketball. Mustang’s future is even more bright. Pogi opened the game on fire Thursday keeping her team in the lead while Broken Arrow made a run. Pogi has a quick shot which she can create on her own. She loves the one-on-one part of basketball. Foreman has a nice shot, too; but the real show comes from her defense. She works tirelessly on the defensive end of the ball and is a true disruptor. The whole Mustang team seems to pride themselves on tough, physical defense and Foreman is a huge catalyst for this.
