Top Shot Blockers Shot blocking is one of the greatest equalizers in basketball. Players that are able to block shots know just where to look and how to move at the right time. It takes a good athlete with great footwork to be successful in shot blocking. [player_tooltip player_id="132384" first="Jordana" last="Reisma"] | Brown Deer | 6’2 F | Sophomore Reisma is an ultra dynamic power forward. She runs the floor well and plays every possession until the whistle. This season she led her team in rebounding and blocked shots. Reisma averaged 4.3 blocks per game and had 104 in total. In a game against Kettle Moraine Lutheran, she blocked a season-high 10 shots. [player_tooltip player_id="132468" first="Tanya" last="McNeal"] | Milwaukee Washington | 5’11 SF | Senior The post player does an exceptionally good job on defense. She leads the state in blocked shots and averaged 5.3 blocked shots per game. She’s an intense defender. In a game against Milwaukee School of Languages, McNeal blocked a season high 8 shots. Certainly an undersized shot blocker, McNeal blocked 117 shots in total this season. Lianna Baxter | Saint Thomas Aquinas | 6’1 C | Sophomore Baxter has been consistent all around the board this season. She scores and defends for her team. She’s strong in the paint and averaged 6.4 blocks per game. In a game against Crivitz, Baxter blocked a season-high 12 shots. In a victory over Coleman, Baxter blocked 10 shots. Dani Schactner | Somerset | 6’1 C | Junior Schactner averaged 3.9 blocked shots per game. She’s a powerful post player who uses her body well to time out blocked shots. She has great footwork and does a good job fighting for position before a shot. In a win over Saint Croix Central, she blocked a season-high 11 shots. Abi Fraaza | Wittenberg- Birnamwood | 5’10 G | Junior Fraaza had a breakout season this year. She developed into a fierce defender who understands her positioning on the floor. She undersized for such a successful shot blocker but does a great job chasing down transition layups. She averaged 3.5 blocks per game this season and blocked 84 in total. Jadelyn Ganski | Newman Catholic | 6’0 F | Senior The senior was a talented all around player this season. She developed into her team’s top defender and averaged 3.4 blocked shots per game. In a win over Athens, Ganski blocked a season-high 7 shots. She had 89 total blocked shots this season. Shannon DeVries | Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah | 6’0 C | Senior The senior led her conference in blocked shots this season. She has a rare combination of size and skill that helps her defend. She’s super successful on the block and fights for position well. In a win over Hilbert, DeVries blocked a season-high 7 shots. With over 77 total blocked baskets during her senior year, DeVries averaged 3.3 per game. [player_tooltip player_id="132432" first="Mesa" last="Byom"] | Melrose- Mindoro | 6’3 PF | Senior Byom is one of the most athletic post players we’ve seen this season. She’s long and lean which helps her to control her body on defense. She does a great job of finding spacing between the opponent to block the shot. She averaged 3.2 blocks this season. In a game against Black Hawk, Byom had a season-high 7 blocks. She is committed to South Dakota State. Ana Rhude | Sussex Hamilton | 6’3 F | Senior The Northern Michigan recruit averaged 3.2 blocked shots this season. She’s quick on defense and contests every shot. She’s relentless and out hustles her opponent. She had 70 blocks this season. In a game over a tough DSHA squad, Rhude blocked a season-high 9 shots.
