Continuing on with our rankings coverage we are now looking at the best rebounders in the newly updated rankings. The five players below can be relied on to crash the boards hard and look to be among the best rebounders in the class right now. The list below was restricted to those players who made our initial Top 2023 rankings.

Crooks is the best rebounder in the freshman class and might go down as one of the best rebounders in state history. With her 320 rebounds this year she was tied for the top mark in the state and now sits at 32nd on the single-season rebound list. Her 320 rebounds are also the top mark in Iowa history for freshmen. She has a real shot to hold the all-time Iowa rebounding record when her career is over.
[player_tooltip player_id="127624" first="Alivia" last="Ruble"] - 5’8 SF - Southeast Warren
Ruble finished the year with the 2nd highest total number of rebounds for freshmen across the state with 224. While that is 96 less than Crooks, that’s a very impressive number for a freshman. Ruble could very easily finish her career with 1,000 rebounds with her motor and ability to get the ball. She’s a very solid rebounder with the way that she moves to the ball as it comes off the rim.
[player_tooltip player_id="127610" first="Madison" last="Brouwer"] - 6’ PF - Sibley-Ocheyedan
Brouwer is a very mobile forward who can play either forward position with ease. Most impressively is that she attacks the glass hard no matter where she is at on the floor. Our 29th ranked player in the 2023 class finished the year with 217 rebounds and should be able to increase that total next season. She’s a big candidate to be a big stock riser as she starts to harness her athleticism.
[player_tooltip player_id="160574" first="Elizabeth" last="Puot"] - 5’11 SF - Des Moines North
Puot is someone that likely isn’t very known around the state but she’s among the best rebounders in the freshman class. This past season she averaged 8.2 rebounds a game which was good for the 7th best rate in the freshman class. She finished her season fourth in the state in total rebounds among all freshmen. Puot has an incredible motor around the boards and the ball sticks on her hands when she grabs it.
[player_tooltip player_id="160549" first="Ava" last="Schubert"] - 6’1 PF - Assumption
Schubert is a high level volleyball player and her leaping ability translates over to the hardwood very well. She has the ability to outjump everyone for the rebound which allowed her to pull down 169 rebounds on the season and rank 11th in the entire state among freshmen. Schubert is an athletic forward who will continue to climb the leaderboards rebounding the ball. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her finish her career with 800 rebounds.
