Here’s a look at some of the players to watch in 2020-2021:
Chloe Pfau, West Fargo
Pfau is one of hte most talented to-be sophomores in the state and while her scoring numbers didn’t take a huge jump in her second varsity season, she showed the playmaking ability and overall floor game that makes her future potentially even brighter. She averaged about nine points per game and could take a big jump next season with the Packers needing to replace their best perimeter scorer from last year.
Moriku Hakim, Fargo Shanley
Hakim emerged as a dynamic interior presence for the Deacons, averaging 13 points and nearly 10 rebounds as a junior. She’ll be more heavily featured inside as a senior with Shanley losing their top playmakers on the perimeter. If she can maintain close to the efficiency level she showed as a junior, she’ll be a force.
Abby Johnson, Devils Lake
Johnson averaged 12.3 points per game as a junior and will be in her third year as a starter for the Firebirds next year. She’s one of the best shooters in the EDC and will likely take on a bigger role as a shot-creator and overall scorer after several years as a complementary piece.
Jade Azure, Grand Forks Red River
Azure was a solid piece a year ago, averaging nearly seven points per game in a rotation role. With Shelby Frank gone to graduation, Azure will have an opportunity to step into a higher volume role in the middle. With a solid group of guards around her, Azure could be a near double-double player inside.
Ava Wild, Fargo Davies
Wild put up solid numbers as a sophomore post for the Eagles, averaging 10 points and nearly nine rebounds per game. If she takes the sophomore-to-junior jump a few of her teammates took, she’ll be one of the best posts in the league and give the Eagles a devastating trio up front.
