Grandview and Cherry Creek ended up splitting the league championship with Cherry Creek having a slightly better overall record of 25-2 compared to Grandview’s 24-3. Both teams are no strangers to competing at the highest level, playing against some of the top teams in the country in a tournament at the start of the season.
Playing each other twice during the regular season the two teams split the head-to-head series against one another. Grandview won the first of the two outings, 65-40 at Cherry Creek, and Cherry Creek won the second, 53-42. The next time the two teams would’ve played would have decided the Class 5A state champion.
Outside of losing against each other, the only lost that the two team had was against the top team in the country.
