For the class of 2021, this upcoming year is huge. Not only is it their final year of high school basketball, but it’s also one more shot at showcasing their game for college coaches.
Here’s a few players I’ve been able to watch this year who could take a big step forward as a senior.
1. Faith Boulanger Faith Boulanger 6'1" | C Burroughs HS | 2021 State CA – Burroughs
Boulanger is one of the fastest rising prospects in the SoCal area. She’s heard from both Division 1 and Division 2 schools. She is a versatile player who can play in the paint and on the wing. She is patient, she reads the defense and doesn’t force anything. She makes the right plays and reads. Has a nice floater in the lane. Defensively, she has good timing on her contests in the paint. Good rebounder who boxes out properly.
2. Emma Svoboda – La Quinta
Svoboda is a post player who makes her presence felt. She can set screens well and frees up her teammates. She has good hands in the paint. When she catches the ball, she’s decisive and quick when making a move. Doesn’t let the defense get set. She finishes well at the rim. A good rebounder who creates second shot opportunities.
3. Jaachi Nwanevu – Roosevelt
Nwanevu is a tough player in the paint. She is very strong and can bully smaller defenders in the paint. She can finish well with contact and can absorb it and get herself to the free-throw line. She moves well without the ball; makes strong cuts and is always ready along the baseline. A very good rebounder who boxes out well.
4. Brianna Furch – Brentwood
Furch is a versatile player that can play both guard positions as well as some small forward. Offensively, she moves well without the ball. She can spot up at the three-point line and can make solid cuts to the rim. Good three-point shooter who can also make plays off the dribble. Defensively, is solid on ball and off ball.
