First Team
Madysen Vlastuin, Sr, Lennox, 6-1. When you think of Lennox basketball from the past few years, Vlastuin is the first thought. The career leader in points and rebounds, this year she averaged 20 ppg, nearly 6 rpg and 2 apg. The South Dakota State University commit was looking to make one more run at the state title before her remarkable high school career closed. (Class A Player of the Year, Argus leader 1st-Five, Midco Class A Player of the Year)
Haleigh Timmer Jr., St. Thomas More, 5-11. Timmer is one of the best players in the state, regardless of class. The #1 ranked player in SD 2021 recently committed to South Dakota State University. She’s going from one great program in STM to another in SDSU. However, she still has another year to continue to tear things up! 22.8 ppg., 6.5 rpg and 3.1 apg are her numbers from this past year. (Argus Leader 2nd-Five)
Hannah Parsley, Sr., Flandreau, 5-9. Years from now when you look up at the rafters in Flandreau you will see one of the state all time greats. Hannah Parsley rewrote the record book for the Flyers. In the 19’-20’ season, Parsley became the all-time leader in points and assists. She led the Flyers to a berth in the State Tournament averaging 18.2 ppg., 9.4 rpg and 4.0 apg. Parsley will be taking her talents to Southwest Minnesota State University. (Argus Leader 2nd-Five)
Bella Swedlund, So., Winner, 5-8. Speaking of running through teams, that is exactly what Bella Swedlund and the Winner Warriors did. In her freshman year, she ended the season with a state championship. This year she was looking to do the same. Undefeated thus far and sitting on a 40 plus game winning streak, Swedlund and crew were steamrolling the competition. Deadly from the perimeter she averaged 20 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists per game. (Argus Leader 2nd-Five)
Rianna Fillipi, Sr., Lennox, 5-7. Rio is what they call her. Cool nickname with an even cooler game. Fillipi is one of my favorite players to watch. Quick off the bounce, handles, 3 ball, the whole package. The community of Lennox will miss this one for sure. She was apart of a cornerstone for the Orioles. 16 points and 7 assists a game was a walk in the park for her. Fillipi will head to Northern State University this summer. The Wolves are getting a fierce competitor and a great leader. (Argus Leader 2nd-Five)
Kelsie Herman, Sr., Todd County, 5-7. Herman led the state in scoring at 26.8 ppg. Todd County leaned on her leadership to get them through the season. She earned countless awards and became Todd County all-time leading scorer at 1,611.
Second Team
Lexi Plitzuweit, Jr., Vermillion, 5-8. A Grand Valley State (MI) commit, Plitzuweit is a smart and crafty player. She averaged nearly a double double at the point guard position with 16.9 ppg, 9.6 rpg and 4.1 apg. A natural at her position, with great leadership qualities.
Olivia Ritter, Jr., Tea Area, 5-9. Quick trigger Ritter is what I call her. Olivia Ritter is one of the best shooters in the state. Off the dribble, spot ups, corner three fades and all. Any shot she takes, she can make. At 21 points and 6 rebounds a game, Ritter was a part of an all guard starting five at Tea Area High School. Has interest from national NAIA and D2 schools in this region.
Jacy Pulse, Sr., McCook Central/Montrose, 5-8. A strong guard who can run and jump for days, hence the University of South Dakota track decision. Help lead MCM to a SoDak Sweet 16 berth. Averaged 18.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg and 4.0 apg.
Kaylee Wells, Sr., Crow Creek. The senior at Crow Creek averaged 22 point and 9 rebound. Wells and her squad made it to the SoDak Sweet 16 and was 3 points away from making it to the state tournament. Has interest from NAIA schools in the region.
Emilee Fox, 8th, Mt. Vernon-Plankinton, 5-7. An 8th grader, yup, an 8th grader. Fox is our #1 player in 2024. She is not one of those big tall post playing 8th graders, whose size makes it obvious to play her. Its her skill set at 5’7 that trumps it all. She has a keen scoring ability. Fox can score at all three levels. She averaged 18.1 ppg., 4.9 rpg and 4.1 apg.
Morgan Hammerbeck, Sr., Winner, 6-0. Hammerbeck is a part of the recent winning culture of the Winner Warriors. The six footer averaged 11.9 ppg., 7.1 rpg and 3.4 apg. She helped lead Winner to a championship in 18’-19’ and undefeated season such far. Headed to Black Hill State University.
Third Team
Rylee Rosenquist, Soph., Dakota Valley, 5-10. Rosenquist averaged 18.9 ppg., 9.4 rpg and 3.1 apg. Team record of 12-8 with a first round win in region 4 (All-Dak XII Team Member)
Olivia Kieffer, Fr., Rapid City Christian, 5-9. #3 ranked player in class 2023 averaged 23.5 ppg., 6.7 rpg., 3.6 apg. Team record of 11-9, earned the fifth seed in region 8.
Kadye Fernholz, Sr., Miller, 6-2. A volleyball commit heading to Kansas State University, Forholz averaged 12.8 ppg., 3.6 rpg., 2.2 apg. Team record of 14-6 with a berth in the SoDak Sweet 16.
Britney Lovre, Sr., Deuel, 5-7. The senior guard averaged 19.6 ppg., 6.6 rpg., 2.3 apg. Team record of 8-12 with a #6 seed in region 6. Interest from NAIA schools in the region.
Bailey Conrad, Sr., Tea Area, 5-6. At 12.9 ppg, 6.4 rpg and 6.6 apg. Conrad will take her talents to Concordia-Nebraska this summer. Team record of 15-5 with berth in the SoDak Sweet 16.
Lizzie Olson, Jr., Garretson, 6-1. Liz put up a double double a game at 17.4 ppg and 10.0 rpg. A University of Sioux Falls commit her team record was 9-11. Earned #3 seed and a win in region 3
