First Team
Emma Ronsiek, Sr, O’Gorman,6-1. The Creighton commit, Class of 2020 #1 player ended her career with a slew of accolades. State title check, All-Time Scoring leader check, Player of the Year 2x check. Ronsiek and the O’Gorman Knights were looking to run the table this year. Already undefeated entering the state tournament, Ronsiek and crew was ready to go out on top. Season stats: 16.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 3.2 apg, 26 steals, 43 blocks, 34% 3-pt. FG (31-91).
Morgan Hansen, Sr Lincoln, 6-1., University of South Dakota has one of the best players in the state coming to campus. With great length, sneaky athleticism, and an array of moves, the 6’1 forward averaged 17.6 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 2.7 apg. She finished her career as one of the school’s top scorers in Sioux Falls Lincoln history.
Kyah Watson, Sr, Rapid City Stevens, 6-0. At 14 ppg, 8 rpg and 2.0 apg, Watson added 42 steals and shot 51% from the field. Watson led the Raiders to a 19-1 record and a spot in the state tournament. Another University of South Dakota commit, Watson is one of the most athletically gifted players in the state. Strong in the post, quick on the wing and plays with a motor.
Havyn Heinz, Sr, Huron,5-6, Huron is saying goodbye to one of the best players in school history. Heinz played with heart and relentlessness. She was like mighty mouse. Small, quick and tough. Moving through teams dropping twenty here, thirty there, Heinz was a scoring machine. 18.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.5 apg, 32% 3-pt FG (43-135).
Madison Wuebben, Sr, Yankton, 5-9 The Yankton Bucks had one of the best finishes in recent years. Wuebben led the Bucks to a perfect 8-0 in the Eastern South Dakota Conference (ESD). On the season she averaged 15 points, nearly 6 rebounds a game, while shooting 33% from 3-pt range. A very versatile player, Wuebben will be headed to the University of Sioux Falls.
Sydni Schetnan, Jr, Washington, 6-5 Having a host of offers from power five conferences Schetnan has tons of potential. The #2 ranked player in PGH 2021 averaged 13 points, 9 rebounds and nearly 4 blocks per game. She made tremendous strides throughout the year, showing she can get it done of both ends of the floor. Offers from University of South Dakota, University of Nebraska, Kansas State University, University of Kansas, Indiana State University, North Dakota State University and more….
Second Team
Emma Osmundson, Sr, Lincoln, 5-10, When you think of a tough player, Emma O comes to mind. Full steam ahead like a locomotor coming down the tracks. For the Pats of Lincoln, Osmundson averaged 17 points with 5 rebounds and 2.5 steals. The Pats were a top 3 team heading into the state tournament. Osmundson is headed to South Dakota State University for softball.
Aby Phipps, Sr, Harrisburg, 6-1, Already had a taste of the state title game in her freshmen and sophomore years, Phipps was looking to finally get that chip. The Augustana University commit averaged 11.4 ppg and 4.3 rpg, all while shooting 34% from the three. Great size that can play multiple positions at the next level.
Hannah Ronsiek, So, O’Gorman, 5-10. The younger Ronsiek proved she is ready to lead once big sis heads of to college. Equipped with various offensive moves, Hannah averaged 13.5 ppg, 5.2 rpg, and nearly 3 steals per game. She was also very efficient from 3-point ranges were she shot 45% from behind the arc. Plenty of D2 interest.
Megan Fannin, Sr, Watertown, 5-9, Fannin is one of the most skilled offensive players in the state. She’s able to get any shot off in her arsenal. Being the number one scoring option for the Watertown Arrows, Fannin saw her fair share of double and triple teams. At 13.7 ppg and 2.4 apg, Fannin will head down I29 to play at the University of Sioux Falls.
Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda, So, Washington, 6-2, The #1 ranked player in 2022, Mwenentanda has next level talent. Long, athletic, covers plenty of ground and versatility best describes her. Another Sioux Falls Washington Warrior with power five conference offers (Clemson and Iowa), Mwenentanda averaged 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds a game. Also has an offer from University of South Dakota and South Dakota State University.
Brooklyn Kusler, Jr, Aberdeen Central, Jr., 5-11, Brooklyn Kusler has been coached by one of the best coaches in South Dakota history in coach Dawn Seiler. Kusler almost average a double double at 12.3 ppg and 9.0 rpg and shot 58% from the field. NAIA and D2 schools have taken notice of her growth over the last year.
Brecli Honner, Jr, Harrisburg, 5-9 The University of Sioux Falls commit helped Harrisburg finish as a top 4 team and a birth in the state tournament. Honner has a smooth game, not easily sped up and hard to slow down. Nice in-between game. Can shoot the 3 at a high clip and plays multiple positions. Averaged 11 ppg and 3 rpg.
