First Team
Avery Broughton, Fr. Corsica-Stickney, 5-11 Our #1 ranked player in 2023 had an incredible year. Averaging 20.2 ppg, 9.6 rpg and 3.1 apg, She has D1 talent, leadership and skills at a young age. Broughton led Corsica-Stickney to a perfect record 22-0. Class B had a little more fortune than others, as they got to play one game during the state tournament. Broughton and crew would make it to the final four looking to make it back to the championship game. (Class B Player of the Year, Argus Leader 2nd-Five Team, Midco Class B Player of the Year)
Hilary Albrecht, Howard, Sr, Howard 5-9 Finished her career as the school All-Time leading scorer at 1,723 points. She helped lead Howard to their first state tournament in 28 years. The Dordt University commit and our PGH #8 ranked player in 2020 average 19.1 ppg and 11.4 rpg.
Alayna Benike, Jr Castlewood, 5-11, Already a champion with Castlewood in 2018, Benike was looking to make it 2 out of 3 years. Benike has good size and length. She averaged 16.1 pgg, 8 rpg. 6 apg, 3 spg for the Warriors. She uses her length well in the passing lane, defensive positioning and crashing the boards.
Cameryn Logan, Jr Ethan, 5-10, Logan is another standout forward in Class B. Logan led the Rustlers to a 19-1 record this year including 65 plus wins with less than 7 losses over the last 3 years. Logan is a nice low post presence, strong and efficient. She averaged 15 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 2.6 spg.
Ady Dwight, Sr, Langford Area, 6-0, The unquestionable leader of the Langford Lions was Dwight. She led the team in points and rebounds at 24.3 ppg, and 13.4 rpg. This helped the Lions reach the SoDak Sweet 16 with a record of 19-4.
Caelyn Valandra-Prue, Jr, White River, 5-9, Valandra-Prue is a scoring machine. Her numbers look something like 31 points, 7 boards, 4 steals and nearly 4 assists per game. The #11 ranked player in 2021, Valandra-Prue and White River were off to a great season. Unfortunately, a knee injury ended Valandra-Prue’s season. White River would make it to the Class B SoDak Sweet 16 but could not overcome a tough match-up without Valandra-Prue.
Second Team
Zoey Wohlleber, So, Waubay-Summit, 5-6, Keeping up the great guard play is Zoey Wohlleber of Wauby-Summit. With great team success comes individual success. Wauby-Summit had a regular season record of 15-5, Wohlleber averaged 25 ppg, 6 rpg, 4 apg and 3 spg during that time. Wohlleber led WS to being only one game away from the SoDak Sweet 16
Kaycee Groves, So, Faith, 5-10, Groves is a part of one the most well-rounded teams in Faith. She and her Longhorns rolled through region 8 with an 18-2 record. Then proceeded to crush teams past the SoDak Sweet 16 and onto the state tournament. Only able to get one game under their belt because of “The Rona,” Groves and crew put up an impressive win against Howard. On the season Kaycee Groves averaged 15.5 pgg, 7.3 rpg, 3.3 apg and 3.3 spg.
Morgan Edelman, Jr Menno, 5-7, Edelman was the key driving force for Menno. She averaged 23.1 ppg, 7 rpg, 4 apg and 4 spg. She led the Wolves to a 13-7 record and a top #4 seed in region 5.
Halle Heinz, Jr Ipswich, 5-5, Heinz is another solid guard in Class B. For the Ipswich Tigers Heinz put up 23 ppg and grabbed 5 rpg. Ipswich’s season would end in the first round of region 2.
Kennedy Leiferman, Jr, Kimball-White Lake, 5-11, Leiferman was a walking double double. At 19 ppg and 10 rpg, she flirted with a 20/10 season. Kimball-White Lake made it to the SoDak 16 but couldn’t upset the Faith Longhorns in the #3 vs #14 matchup.
Lavin Bendt, Sr Kadoka Area, 5-10, Lavin Bendt had a solid senior campaign. So solid that she was able to earn All-State honor with crazy stats of nearly 23 points, 13 boards and 4 steals per game. Her Kadoka Kougars hovered around the .500 mark at 9-11, earning them a first-round matchup against Wall in region 7 postseason.
Third Team
Brooke Niederbaumer, Sr, Faulkton Area, 5-11, 12.3 ppg and 5.5 rpg. Team record of 17-3 with wins getting past regions, SoDak Sweet 16 and making the state tournament.
Nora O’Malley, So, Irene-Wakonda, 5-8,18 ppg, 8 rpg and 3 apg. Team record of 14-6 with wins getting past regions, an upset win in the SoDak Sweet 16 earning a spot in the state tournament.
Kennadi Buchholz, Sr, De Smet, 6-0, 15.3 ppg and 8.1 rpg. Team record of 16-4, #1 team in region 3, wins their SoDak sweet 16 match earning a spot in the state tournament. Would end up the final four left in the state tournament. (Defending Champions)
Malloy O’Malley,Sr, Irene-Wakonda, 5-6,17 ppg., 6 rpg and 3 apg. Team record of 14-6 with wins getting past regions, an upset win in the SoDak Sweet 16 earning a spot in the state tournament
Julia Weber, So Bridgewater-Emery, 5-7, 18.7 pgg, 4.2 rpg and 2.1 apg. Team record of 11-9 with a first-round win in region 5.
Morgan Huber, Sr, Hanson, 5-9, 17.5 ppg, 5 rpg and 3 apg. Team record of 13-7 with a first-round win in region 4.
Rachel Fiedler, Jr, Herreid-Selby Area, 5-9, 19.2 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 2.2 apg. Team record of 17-3 with a first-round win in region 2.
