Wisconsin Valley Conference: First Team Below is a list of players selected First Team in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. I’ve highlighted some of their key skills and standout performances. [player_tooltip player_id="132416" first="Leah" last="Earnest"] | Sr. | Stevens Point | 5’11 F The Player of The Year just did everything right this season. The Stevens Point standout led the conference in scoring, rebounding and assists per game. A triple threat that impacts the game in so many ways. Earnest averaged 27.8 points during her senior season. She’s incredibly athletic and does not shy away from contact. In a win against Wisconsin Rapids, Earned scored a season-high 43 points. A threat from beyond the arc as well, the forward made 45 three point baskets this year. A defensive powerhouse, Earnest excels on boards. She fights for position and does a great job following her own shot. She averaged 14.5 rebounds per game. Earnest is committed to Valparaiso. Courtney Krueger | Jr. | Merrill | 5’6 G The unanimous First Team selection is super talented running the offense for her team. She’s a floor general who plays the game with patience and poise. She’s athletic and doesn’t shy away from contact against taller defenders. Krueger plays with intensity through the entire game and really developed her perimeter shot this season. The junior finished the season with 38 three point baskets made. She averaged 17.5 points per game. In a matchup against Wausau East, Krueger had a season-high 28 points. Krueger is fast on defense and has great footwork to grab steals. She averaged 2.4 steals per game with over 45 on the season. A great distributor as well, Krueger dished out 2.7 assists per game. Kaydee Johnson | Sr. | Marshfield | 5’7 G The senior led her team in scoring this season. The guard has so much experience and plays like a true veteran. She’s composed with the ball and isn’t frazzled by high pressure defenders. A great mid range game and ability to attack in the lane, Johnson averaged 11.8 points per game for her team. She’s impressive in transition and finds her teammates open well. Johnson gained more confidence this season and if left open would knock down a perimeter shot. In a team win against Wausau West, Johnson scored a season-high 24 points. Anna Cunningham | Sr. | Wausau West | 5’11 F The senior helped to lead her team to the number three spot in the conference this season. Cunningham was second in scoring and first in rebounding for Wausau West. A fierce player who can run the floor, Cunningham sees a lot of transition baskets. She averaged 14.2 points per game this season and was very consistent. Cunningham plays with poise and is the go-to player for a needed basket. In a win over Wisconsin Rapids, Cunningham scored a season-high 25 points. In another win over D.C Everest, she had 22 points. An impact rebounder as well, the senior averaged 5.7 rebounds per game. Cunningham is definitely an offensive rebounding specialist. In a game against Eau Claire Memorial the senior forward grabbed a season-high 12 boards. Kiley Deaton | Jr. | Wausau West | 5’9 G Deaton led her team this season in scoring and assists. She’s a fantasti all around player who is going to make a huge impact for her team during her senior campaign. The guard has a great feel for the game and really gets herself open well. She attacks the paint on offense and is also mid range effective. Deaton averaged 14.3 points per game and made 20 three point baskets. In a win against D.C Everest, Deaton scored a season-high 22 points. On three separate occasions, Deaton scored 21 points as well. A floor general for Wausau West the guard led the team with 2.9 assists per game. The junior worked well dishing the ball inside to Cunningham or finding her open off a screen. In a game against Stevens Point, Deaton dished out a season-high 6 assists.
