Brooke Gunderson, Guard, Buffalo
Although the Lake Conference was loaded last season, Buffalo was a program that was such a young team and it showed as they finished 8-18 on the season. Gunderson was a part of that youth but has some good finesse in her game. Gunderson is consistent get-to-the-bucket type of player who just relishes having players to defender her on one-on-one to the hole. One thing you’ll see on tape from Gunderson is how defensively strong she is, as well, and she’s not afraid to take a charge. She is a hustle player, who seems to have the potential to grow into a bigger role. The lefty averaged 6.7 points per game which was third-best on the Bison behind PGH Minnesota Top 100 prospect Lauren Feddema Lauren Feddema 5'9" | CG Buffalo | 2022 State MN , who was one of the five fastest players I got to watch this high school season.
Megan Wanner, Guard, Mound-Westonka
Wanner is a stout guard who was second for the White Hawks in scoring during a tough outing in the Wright County West where they finished 6-20 last season. Standing at 5’7, Wanner has a little more muscle than most at that size. Wanner likes to go to the hoop but also was 37% from beyond the arc last season. She shot over 70% from the free-throw line. Wanner has a unique shot that I think can develop. She had 8 games last season with more than 15 points with a high game of 23 (twice) against Dassel-Cokato and Esko. You’ll also see on the video that she has nice vision and is a good passer.
Maddy Wulkan, Guard, Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart
Wulkan plays the game extremely fast. She is a versatile catch-and-shoot player who gets her shot off faster than most. She is a great ball handler who has a nice first step to the bucket, and moves extremely quick up and down the floor with good stamina. In my opinion, she looks bigger than 5’4 on film but she does have a thin frame. She is a strong lock-down defender, too. Wulkan was third on the Mustangs in scoring as a sophomore at just over 11 points per game and was an All-Conference honorable mention in the Tomahawk Conference. We should see another strong year from the Mustangs next season, who finished 19-6 and will return Wulkan, 2023 Top 50 prospect Allison Milbrandt Allison Milbrandt 5'10" | SF Buffalo Lake-H-S | 2023 State MN , and 2024 twins Kristi Kottke and Rachel Kottke.
Keiara Anderson, Guard, St. Cloud Apollo
Anderson was not even on my radar when I scouted St. Cloud Apollo very early in the year. She had eight games over 10 points last season, with most of those coming towards the end of the year. In the last two games, she averaged 16.5 ppg. Anderson is a strong rebounder with four double-digits games last season in that department. She is very lengthy and uses that to her full advantage. It will be interesting to see her and Keshona McGaughy help develop the young Eagles into a contender in the coming years in the Central Lakes Conference.
