Top 5 Freshmen: Milwaukee Below is a list of freshmen in MILWAUKEE. These talented players have put up fantastic numbers and shown how great they already are and will become in the next three years. After just one Varsity season these players stood out for their talents. [player_tooltip player_id="156095" first="Faith" last="Robertson"] | 5’8 G | Milwaukee Hamilton The freshman consistently put up great numbers for her team this season. She has a smooth arc to her shot and a fast release. She was the shooter for her team this season. She didn’t shy away from big shots and knocked down some to impact games. She’s primarily a catch and shoot but started to create her own shot towards the end of the season. The Milwaukee Hamilton standout averaged 10.4 points per game. In a game against Milwaukee Bradley Tech, Roberston scored a season-high 23 points in the win. A defensive threat as well, Roberston is the go-to player on her squad for steals. She has great footwork and sees a lot of minutes due to her being so athletic [player_tooltip player_id="156086" first="Lauryn" last="Hunt"] | 5’10 F | Milwaukee King Hunt was a great role player for her first season as a Milwaukee King general. Milwaukee King was a super competitive team this season with multiple high level recruits. Many of those recruits graduated this year which will be the perfect opening for Hunt. She saw a fair amount of minutes and showed a glimpse of what she will bring in the years to come. The Freshman of the Year in the Milwaukee Gold conference is super versatile. At 5’10 she uses her body well inside but has guard like skills on the perimeter as well. She uses her strength inside to get position to grab multiple rebounds per game. She has a good nose for the ball and a nice box out as well. A consistent passer this season, Hunt understood her role. She will be the one that King looks for to be an impact player her sophomore season. [player_tooltip player_id="156084" first="Kierra" last="Bond"] | 6’0 F | Messmer Bond is an overall exciting prospect to watch compete. She hustles on the floor and races after every loose basket. She’s exciting to watch because she goes hard every possession on both ends of the floor. Defensively, Bond is in your face. Her arms are always waving and she gets multiple blocks per game. She’s powerful in the paint and causes many opponents to force an outside shot. Offensively she thrives off her crafty post moves. She’s quick with a turn around jumper but also uses her body well to back an opponent down. This season she averaged 15 points per game for Messmer. In a game against Kenosha Christian Life, Bond scored a season-high 26 points. Mya Hartjes | 5’6 G | University School | CBA Hartjes was extremely successful during her first season at University School. An all conference selection and 5th leading scorer in her conference. She’s a scrappy guard and gets her shot off very well. She has great footwork that gets her to the rim with ease. She’s developed her mid range game this season and will now often opt for the floater or pull up jumper. She averaged 13.2 points per game for University School. She’s confident beyond the arc and creates a shot for herself off the dribble. The freshman standout made 23 three point baskets this season. She is a fierce in your face defender and sees multiple points off steals. She thrives defending the press break and has long arms to deflect passes. Look for Hartjes to develop into a floor general next season as she improves her passing and confidence running the offense. Beautiful Waheed | 5’6 G | Milwaukee Academy of Science Waheed is a talented guard who is gaining so much experience playing on MAS. She plays alongside multiple other high prospect guards that will only make her into a better player. She’s already tapped into other aspects of her game and developed into a great passer this season. She finished third this season in scoring for the team by averaging 18.4 points per game. She’s a scrappy scorer with the ability to fly past so many defenders in transition. Waheed will shoot a perimeter shot if left wide open but thrives on her flashy moves to the basket. In a game against Saint Mary Catholic, Waheed finished with a season-high 28 points. In five games this season, Waheed finished with over 20 points.
