This region has plenty of talented guards that can play multiple guard spots, from [player_tooltip player_id="98797" first="Myra" last="Gordon"] (Alabama) to [player_tooltip player_id="137400" first="Sierra" last="Dickson"] (Texas State) to their school teammates, [player_tooltip player_id="137406" first="Kyla" last="Davis"] who teamed with Gordon at LD Bell and Dickson’s backcourt mate at Hebron, [player_tooltip player_id="100070" first="Daxia" last="Melton"] but have no fear as the torch has been passed to a new group of juniors that include [player_tooltip player_id="97632" first="Sydney" last="Standifer"] (Argyle) who has already committed to Clemson
2021
[player_tooltip player_id="22370" first="Kendall" last="Brown"] (Desoto)
Brown does so many things well including rebounding on both ends, defending full court as well as handling the ball and finishing strongly after contact but her physique enables her to overpower guards and her elevation on her jumper not to mention the consistency in which she shoots it are all legit
[player_tooltip player_id="97632" first="Sydney" last="Standifer"] (Argyle)
Standifer is more of a point guard because she can control the tempo and understands how to run a team yet she is a player with that certain mentality to know when she can take over a game and at the drop of a dime or dropping dimes, she makes things happen, plus she can shoot it
[player_tooltip player_id="158665" first="Portia" last="Adams"] (Cedar Hill)
Adams explosiveness was on full display at She’s Ballin Showcase and this is one of the reasons I love seeing players in different settings. She attacks the basket relentlessly and acrobatically and with her athleticism, she can make the pass going full speed, not to leave out she has the mid to long-range
[player_tooltip player_id="97915" first="Nyah" last="Wilson"] (Duncanville)
Wilson was a big key to Duncanville’s 6A State Championship title (UIL) and I’ve watched her growth spurt, on and off the court, legitimize her game more and more each year. One of the best 6th man in the state, she put up numbers off the bench and in the flow
[player_tooltip player_id="136321" first="Kiara" last="Jackson"] (South Grand Prairie)
Jackson dazzled the defense, the fans and me at the Spring Creek Mansfield Invitational and watching her attack from various angles and glide to the basket or pull-up for that left-handed jumper, she was clicking on all cylinders. Good ball-handler and passer shoots the long ball too
2022
[player_tooltip player_id="135374" first="Jahcelyn" last="Hartfield"] (South Grand Prairie)
Hartfield’s strength makes things happen on both ends, because she rebounds, on both ends, against taller players, she can defend against taller players inside or smaller players on the perimeter but she gets to the basket whenever she wants and finishes solidly, just like her outside shot, solid
2023
[player_tooltip player_id="96131" first="Brandy" last="Jones"] (North Crowley)
Jones runs the one, two and even three, all well because she can handle the ball, under pressure, run a team with precision either in the half-court or pushing it in transition but she sees the floor very well and scores with either a legitimate jumper or attacking the basket
[player_tooltip player_id="134033" first="Savannah" last="Catalon"] (Mansfield Legacy)
Catalon only has stars and add by her name after her showing in the Spring Creek Mansfield Invitational but she was already on my radar, like most of the players because I caught her early and knew what was coming and to see her operate like a seasoned veteran playing both the one and two proved me right again
[player_tooltip player_id="134036" first="Kylie" last="Marshall"] (Mansfield Lakeridge)
Marshall has an abundance of offensive weapons including the ability to create her shot under pressure, take the outside shot while being pressured and score in the clutch, now that’s pressure but she can handle the ball and attack the basket as well as set teammates up for baskets
