The 2021 area class has an abundance of next-level power forwards and with the #1 prospect in the class [player_tooltip player_id="65876" first="Jada" last="Malone"] (The Village School) committing to Texas A&M after leading her team to become the TAPPS 6A State Champion, I’m omitting her from the mix as well as #31 [player_tooltip player_id="97930" first="Taylor" last="Jackson"] (Cypress Creek) who was named to the state’s All-Tournament team as they were runner up in UIL 6A but the variety of heat continues throughout the area and classes and her some of the reasons why 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="136313" first="Da’Necia" last="Trusty"] (Hastings) Current Rank #38 Trusty’s length and athleticism has always been impressive as well as her defense and rebounding, not to mention running the floor but she has definitely progressed to add some legitimacy to her offensive side, she elevates easily over defenders inside the paint and can attack from the w]ngs [player_tooltip player_id="136340" first="Alexis" last="Babineaux"] (Westfield) Current Rank #53 Babineaux has always been a punisher in the paint, she finished early and easily with both hands and this was in elementary school yet she does a good job with the little things that have been lost in this era, like boxing out, using the drop step and when you throw in she can face the basket and score ... [player_tooltip player_id="136337" first="Asia" last="Broughton"] (Cypress Ridge) Current Rank #54 Broughton went from being strictly a post to strictly a player that just keeps coming at you. Watching her attack the rim, especially in the open court, makes you think you’re looking at a college player because she’s so physical and powerful and that falls over into her work in the paint [player_tooltip player_id="136341" first="Kajah" last="Phillips"] (Diboll) Current Rank #55 Phillips size and athleticism will give her next-level options of 4/5 depending on where and what level but she gets after it off the glass, I’ve always loved her constraint battling in the paint and her defense is solid, as well as her rebounding but she finishes strong, after contact [player_tooltip player_id="136334" first="De’" last="Neisha Winslow"] (Channelview) Current Rank #58 Winslow is long and athletic, again that’s the base, and she was raw and just all over the place when I first saw her yet what she did instinctively sold me on what she was going to become. She lays the passing lane, she attacks from everywhere, has a nice pull-up and defends as well as rebounds [player_tooltip player_id="136345" first="Niyah" last="Johnson"] (Clear Springs) Current Rank #59 Johnson went from being a 5 to showing she could face the basket and do some damage this season. She’s one of the strongest rebounders and finishers in the area and she does both with power but watching her hit the 10 footers as well as putting it on the floor will give her options [player_tooltip player_id="136342" first="Tierra" last="Simon"] (Heights) Current Rank #60 Simon also elevated her game from just a "back to the basket" player and her agility as well as athleticism are both good qualities to have with her skill set. She’s also good passer from the high post and since she has worked on her outsider shooting, she can also hit the shot from that area 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="135377" first="Saija" last="Cleveland"] (Langham Creek) Current Rank #34 Cleveland just left me somewhat speechless with her progression the past season. She was already good but she’s gone to really good and mixing it up from hitting the deep ones to the in-betweens as well as forcefully attacking and finishing acrobatically has her due for an upgrade [player_tooltip player_id="135391" first="Ja’Nyla" last="Kennedy"] (North Shore) Current Rank #59 Kennedy toned up nicely last season, suffered an injury yet will be a threat when she returns and I don’t need a crystal ball for that. She’s strong  and can mix that with finesse but her ability to score in the paint or the mid to long-range is solid, as well as her rebounding [player_tooltip player_id="135403" first="Yvonne" last="Forman"] (Dekaney) Current Rank #60 Forman is a silent assassin, she does so much offensively in the flow that she fills up a stat sheet with the blink an eye and is a double-double waiting to happen. Her soft touch around the basket, her strong rebounding on both ends as well as her defense all just keep getting better 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="96125" first="RyLee" last="Grays"] (The Village School) Current Rank #2 Grays was an integral part of The Village Machine that won a TAPPS 6A State Championship and although she made my Tip Sheet in the 6th grade, one play in a fall league game in which she completed an and-one told me a lot because of the aftermath. She is powerful, can score with players hanging on her and developing an outside shot only adds more problems for defenders
