Northern Illinois True Point Guards: Part 3

The third and final part of the Northern IL True PG’s series brings another group of dynamic players who consistently make plays from the Lead Guard spot: <strong>2022 Amari Banks, 5’5” Guard, Waubonsie Valley</strong> Banks is a smooth ball-handler who does a terrific job pushing the ball up the floor and using her court vision to locate open teammates. She’s quick and under control with the ball in her hand, helping her lead the offense efficiently. Amari is also a plus shooter from beyond the three-point line. <strong>2023 [player_tooltip player_id="148166" first="Brooklyn" last="Ficek"], 5’4” Guard, LaSalle-Peru</strong> Brooklyn is a tough and athletic Point Guard who can play on or off the ball with her scoring abilities. She’s fast and shifty when driving and uses a high IQ to consistently make plays. Ficek is also a terrific shooter with deep range from three. <strong>2021 Ashley Wachter, 5’8” Guard, McHenry</strong> Wachter is a strong and talented Point Guard with confidence with the ball in her hands. She’s a tough driver in the lane and does a nice job finishing through contact. Ashley has a quick and consistent jumper that allows her to knock down shots from mid-range and deep. <strong>2022 Naomi Elliott, 5’5” Guard, Normal U-High</strong> Naomi is a solid all-around True Point Guard due to her wide range of skills. Defensively she is tough and uses her quickness and athleticism to make things difficult for opposing ball-handlers. On the offensive side, Elliott handles the ball well with speed and uses great court vision and a pass-first mentality to make winning plays for her team. <strong>2022 Karleigh Creasey, 5’7” Guard, Normal Community</strong> Creasey is a strong and smart Point Guard with a good balance of scoring and facilitating. She has an aggressive, yet controlled style of play that gives her an edge on both ends of the floor. Karleigh is a willing passer at the Lead Guard spot and can also take defenders off the dribble or knock down shots from deep. <strong>2021 [player_tooltip player_id="123612" first="Emma" last="Raupp"], 5’7” Guard, Schaumburg</strong> Emma is a well-rounded Guard who can play off the ball, but really thrives at the Lead spot with her ability to control the offense. She’s an excellent scorer at all levels, but her leadership and confidence make her a terrific true Point Guard. <strong>2022 Caroline Croft, 5’5” Guard, South Elgin </strong> Caroline is a pass-first Point Guard who can knock down shots from deep, shooting the ball 46% from three her Sophomore season. Her eyes are constantly up, looking for the best pass, which she makes often. Croft also plays great on-ball defense with quick feet and active hands. <strong>2021 [player_tooltip player_id="123577" first="Faith" last="Klemm"], 5’8” Guard, Sycamore</strong> Klemm is a speedy and athletic Point Guard who can play on or off the ball with her ability to shoot the three. She takes care of the ball consistently and has a variety of moves to get past defenders. Once past defenders, Faith uses her excellent decision making to make plays in the lane. <strong>2022 Grace Harris, 5’8” Guard, Plainfield South</strong> Grace is a lengthy and athletic ball-handler who uses excellent court vision and passing abilities to make plays within the offense. She can beat defenders off the dribble due to her quickness and strength and has nice touch in the mid-range game to score in the lane. <strong>2021 Demi Friedman, 5’3” Guard, Deerfield</strong> Demi is a fast, high-IQ Point Guard who can make plays in transition and in half-court sets. She runs the floor well with and without the ball and can knock down shots out on the perimeter. Friedman has a tight control of the ball and does a good job making decisions in the lane.
