This region is yet another filled with talent across the board. These players compete every night, and compete in an extremely tough region. Rising senior [player_tooltip player_id="124070" first="Laila" last="Acox"] from Ridge View high school has already committed to Eastern Carolina University. Here is who else you should know:
[player_tooltip player_id="177510" first="Rosalina" last="Macon"]: The 5’7 shooting guard from Richland Northeast high school, is a lefty with good size and abilities. She has a high and quick release, she has no problem knocking down a tough shot with a hand in her face. She really caught fire at the end of last season, in the last 10 games she hit 3 or more from deep. On top of being good from downtown, she gets into the paint well and finishes (even with contact), and has a 1 dribble pull-up going to the right that is pretty efficient.
[player_tooltip player_id="124076" first="Trinity" last="Adams"]: (Disclaimer South Pointe high school will no longer be in this region next season but she is still someone you should know) The 5’9 guard from South Pointe high school has picked up a couple of offers early in her career, but she has much potential. Competing in back to back state championship games, she knows what it takes to be apart of a winning program, and she is a big part of the winning. She is a player who can fill up a stat sheet for you, averaging 13 points, 5 boards, and 3 steals per game this last season. She is best with the ball in her hands getting downhill into the paint. Getting into the paint allows for her easy buckets, or getting to the free-throw line where she attempted over 110 this last season. She harasses everyone on defense, with a high IQ. She is a lock down defender, as solid as they come. She plays AAU for the 1Dream organization.
[player_tooltip player_id="124071" first="Malayziah" last="Etheredge"]: The 5’9 guard from Westwood high school, helped lead her team to the upper state game this last season before falling short to South Pointe. Yet another player who has her hands on every stat line. Averaging 10 points, 3 boards, and 3 assists per game this last season. She has a high motor, gets downhill and into the paint quickly. She is capable of shooting the 3 ball, but needs to get a little more consistent before getting to the next level. Defensively she harasses her opponent, she is particularly good at picking the pocket when she is the on ball defender. She plays AAU for the Palmetto 76ers organization.
Mya Wasswa: The 5’8 guard from Ridge View high school, was an all-region selection. She is a long, lanky, athlete, and plays hard start to finish. She gets up well for boards, averaging right at 4 a game. She gets to the rim, really stretching herself out to make sure she gets there, and finishes well. While capable of shooting the 3 ball, she is better when running in transition, or driving to the rim. She would make a good pickup for someone at the next level.
