Continue ReadingI found out something a very long time ago, never judge a book by its cover, and I’ve read some great books with worn covers and hopefully, this analogy jumps at you because I’ve seen some small players destroy taller ones and watching Alaina Lee (Madison HS) one of the top PG’s to ever come out of the Houston area drop step over a 6’2 girl, she’s 5’4, is forever embedded in my memory banks and I know someone looking to correct me will say “you said she was a point guard” and she was but she also wasn’t one dimensional and just played the game. The effort and grit from this group at the camp left me pleased
Ariana Rosado-5’4
Rosado has a little bit of everything starting with her decision making and ability to control the tempo. She sees the floor well, makes good passes on the money and also showed she could handle the ball and create her shot under pressure and to top it off, a solid pull-up jumper
Aalyssa Rogers-5’5
Rogers attacks the basket strong and finishes the same way, after contact but her athleticism enables her to do much more than take defenders off the dribble, she also applies heat on the defensive end as well as something I truly love to see, she plays the passing lane
Victoria Moore-5’1
Moore will never give you less than her all and after watching her simply go off in high school, she picked it right back up at the camp because she’s not only fast, she’s fast with the ball and when she shifts gears, she’s hard to defend but two things, she sees the floor and she creates her shot both well
Vanessa Herrera Vanessa Herrera 5'7" | PG El Paso Eastlake | 2021 State TX -5’4
Herrera doesn’t have any notes by her name, her game like Lee’s is embedded in my head so what can she do at the one, everything because she understands two very important things, how to run a team and how to get everyone involved, it’s just a huge plus that she take over offensively off the dribble or from El Paso
Skylar Dunford -5’1
Dunford made my last season at the All Eyez On Me Individual Showcase where everyone was evaluated and will be again this year but her blue color work ethic impressed me them and nothing has changed except I’m loving her mixing it up offensively and taking defenders off the dribble or creating the jumper while adding a little stutter, semi-step back action
Na’Layjah Johnson Na’Layjah Johnson 5'6" | SG College Station | 2021 State TX -5’4
Johnson is not only one of the best long ball shooters in the state, but she’s also one of the best clutch shooters in the state and as ice water runs down her veins, but she also did the same thing at the camp which was live-streamed and that’s hitting big shots under pressure Her midrange and creating off the dribble looked good, so did her defense.
