[player_tooltip player_id="158543" first="Donovyn" last="Hunter"] 2023 5’10" PG Cal Stars/South Medford HS - Donovyon had her most prolific point output against the Minnesota Fury, as she had a 9 point effort in the form of perimeter shots as well as lay-ins. She has displayed the ability to step up and score when the opportunity presents itself. Against FBC, Hunter started the game in place of [player_tooltip player_id="163093" first="Talana" last="Lepolo"], a big step for her development. This tournament, Donovyn had a big showing as her minutes were increased and she was given a chance to show her skills [player_tooltip player_id="158473" first="Aaronette" last="Vonleh"] 2021 6’3" C Cal Stars/West Linn HS - Had 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks against the Furry as well as 6 points and 3 rebounds versus FBC. Vonleh had another display of her will and consistency on the paint, with her drop step moving being her favorite in this scenario. Her sheer size alone is difficult for defenders to deal with, as her developing finesse is another layer of her game that she is working on. Defensively, she has the same presence as an intimidating interior defender. [player_tooltip player_id="103658" first="Calli" last="Stokes"] 2021 5’11" SG Cal Stars/Redondo Union HS - Stokes kept them in the game against the Fury, as she was doing anything and everything in her will to do so. She had 11 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists in a gritty display of effort and skill. Stokes is a rebounding machine that gets it done through fundamentals as well as a prolific scorer. Whenever the Stars needed a bucket, they called on her name to get it done as she is nearly unstoppable in the one on one setting. Had 6 points and 7 rebounds against FBC. [player_tooltip player_id="158475" first="Audrey" last="Roden"] 2021 5’9" SG Cal Stars/West Linn HS - Had 11 points against the Fury as well as 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks in their final game. Roden played a different role than she usually does in their win against FBC, as her stats reflect that of a forward. She was rebounding with tremendous effort, as this is a part of her game not talked about enough. Roden is an engaging and aggressive defender who is not afraid of challenging stokers and is athletic enough to get a piece of the ball. On top of this, the perimeter shooting as well as slashing tendencies were still displayed and showcased. Hunter Hernandez 2021 5’10" SG Cal Stars/Archbishop Mitty - Hunter is a type of player that every team needs, one that plays with a certain edge and spirit. She was rewarded for such efforts in her game against FBC in which she scored 8 points to go with 4 rebounds. At this point, Hunter is a tough, physical wing who rebounds and scores in the paint based on these qualities. She is still gaining back momentum and confidence after a tough ACL injury from about a year ago, but she is steadily taking steps at becoming the player that we all know her as. [player_tooltip player_id="102659" first="Jessica" last="Peterson"] 2021 6’3" C Cal Stars/Etiwanda HS - A distinguished defender who knows how to use her body and isn’t afraid to do it. Against FBC she had 4 points and 6 rebounds in an even display of play at both ends. She thrives on cleaning up on the offensive boards and getting her points in that fashion but has been able to knock down the open shot. Peterson is a defensive minded player whose value is immeasurable on that end, when the team gets any significant offensive production from her it is a bonus. [player_tooltip player_id="103555" first="Marley" last="Langi"] 2021 6’0" SF Cal Stars/Archbishop Mitty HS - Marley had her best game of the tournament perhaps against FBC as she showcased her incredibly varied game that has been on showcase for the last few weeks for the Stars. She scored 11 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists in a full out display. Scoring wise, she can knock down the step back jumper and inside she has a combination of good footwork and sensational touch. She rebounds well using her body, can run the point forward and has great court awareness. [player_tooltip player_id="158474" first="Addison" last="Wedin"] 2021 5’11" SF Cal Stars/La Salle HS - Had 7 points against the Fury, where scoring was much needed in order to keep themselves in the game. Wedin has learned how to be patient and when it is her time to contribute on the offensive end. Her bread and butter is certainly her stroke from deep, but she has learned to be an efficient scorer in the paint and in a variety of different ways. Wedin has fit into a role of a significant scorer off the bench and done it in a big way for the Stars. [player_tooltip player_id="163093" first="Talana" last="Lepolo"] 2022 5’7" PG Cal Stars/St Joseph Notre Dame HS - Played versus the Fury and sat against FBC, as she had a 6 point, 4 assist effort in her final game. We saw the aggressive point guard this back week in her authentic form, with the uncanny ability to dynamically find her teammates in scoring position. What she does time in, time out for this team is so special that sometimes it can be taken for granted. Lepolo’s mark of consistency at the point guard who does it so flawlessly is something to take for certain. [player_tooltip player_id="189641" first="Jordan" last="Allred"] 2021 5’8" SG Cal Stars/Miramonte HS - Had her most significant display versus FBC where she tallied 4 points and 2 assists. This tournament, Allred came in and was able to show that she is a team first guard who has a knack for finding teammates in stride for a score. Her most valuable asset for the Stars is a player who can come into the game instantly and make a impact as a utility player that can be a common denominator and help put a collective of players on the same note.
