Continue ReadingFirst, on more of a personal note, the past year I’ve been strictly scouting the state of South Dakota for PGH. I will now be covering North Dakota as well. The process for me will be analyzing film on a daily basis. I will post along the way and will have a large rankings update sometime in late September. These rankings will only improve along the way. I’m excited for the journey of covering the state of North Dakota and all the talent it offers. It should be a fun process and I hope you enjoy the journey along with me. Thanks for reading and supporting Prep Girls Hoops!
Now, let’s get to the business — that’s what we’re here for. This is more of a starter post on prospects I’ve seen and me simply trying to put some work out there as I go along. This article consists of prospects from three teams.
Sydney Gustavsson Sydney Gustavsson 5'7" | CG Mandan | 2021 State ND — Mandan — (2021/5’7/CG) — 13.7 ppg. — 3FG-3FGA 42-116/36% — Good size and a strong build, Sydney is an efficient/skilled player in all aspects and has great basketball IQ and a feel for the game. Her greatest asset that translates to the next level is her three-point shooting ability as she can get it off quick and can shoot it well beyond the line. Sydney will carry a lot of scoring pressure for Mandan this upcoming season. She can handle the point or play the two.
Taylor Leingang Taylor Leingang 6'0" | PF Mandan | 2021 State ND — Mandan — (2021/6’0/PF) —4.5 ppg. A six-footer that can play with power inside and finesse out on the perimeter. Posts and seals hard inside and can be a threat from three.
Amaya Ramsey Amaya Ramsey 5'10" | SG Mandan | 2021 State ND — Mandan — (2021/5’10/SF) — 6.1 ppg. — Amaya possesses great length and wingspan. She gets most of her offensive output from the three-point line and that’s where she gets most of her looks. She’s a set shooter that needs to line up her shot. Most often she hits threes when she is left open and has space to get a clean look at the hoop.
Piper Harris Piper Harris 5'4" | PG Mandan | 2022 State ND — Mandan — (2022/5’4/PG) — 5.1 ppg. — A bulldog of a point guard, Piper is a true point that really handles the offense and facilitates. An exceptional passer that leads to scores for Mandan. Great at cleanly getting passes through into the post. Can put a ton of zip on her passes…Can make numerous types of different passes…Impressive ability to pass up-court with distance and accuracy. Piper is the perfect point guard that can distribute the ball to scorers, cutters, and shooters around her. But what if she is thrust into a major scoring role? Defensively, Piper is both sound and aggressive. An aggressive defensive mentality — attack first.
Maddy Miller Maddy Miller 5'4" | CG St. Mary’s | 2021 State ND — St. Mary’s — (2021/5’4/CG) — 4.2 ppg. — 3FG-3FGA 23-93/25% — A pure shooting guard that sets and positions herself off the ball to shoot the three…Does a really good job of spotting up in areas, giving the ball-handler space to drive and kick…Understands the correct spots to set herself up at to be able to get her shot off…Plays hard and is active on the defensive side of the ball… Closes out well and doesn’t over-extend herself…Not afraid to chase shooters around in a half-court setting…Shows good energy…
Emma Mogen Emma Mogen 5'8" | CG Watford City | 2021 State ND — Watford City — (2021/5’8/CG) — 10.35 ppg. — 3FG-3FGA 42-115/37% — 3.3 Assists/pg — 2.4 Steals/pg — Emma is one of the more skilled guards you’ll see in the Dakotas — a true playmaker at its finest. Has ball-handling moves and can get up all types of different shots and score in many ways. Shot 115 threes this past season, making 42 for a 37% clip. So she really does her damage from three.
Haley Ogle Haley Ogle 5'6" | PG Watford City | 2021 State ND — Watford City — (2021/5’6/CG) — 8.9 ppg. — 6.9 Rebounds/pg — Plays full-throttle and that’s why she was able to pull down 6.9 RPG and lead her team in that category. Not a polished prospect and gets her stats through her high effort.
Gracen Breitbach Gracen Breitbach 5'9" | SG Watford City | 2023 State ND — Watford City — (2023/5’9/SF) — Length and time to develop are on her side. Needs to improve her skills handling the ball but she has potential with her frame.
