Offseason Stock Risers
Six players that played their way onto radars with strong offseasons. Expect strong high school seasons from the players below.
2023 6-1 PF [player_tooltip player_id="191048" first="Ariana" last="Dyson"] – FBC Legacy UAA – Luella
Dyson’s consistent play and obvious upside lands her on the list of offseason stock risers. At 6-foot-1, Dyson is a mobile forward with a versatile skill set. She is a strong rebounder that can start her own fast break. She’s got nimble footwork in the post and can attack off the dribble. She looks like a future D-I prospect.
2021 6-0 PF [player_tooltip player_id="191042" first="Misia" last="McKinney"] – FBC NextUp Kay – Westlake
An anchor inside, [player_tooltip player_id="191042" first="Misia" last="McKinney"] showed flashes of her potential this offseason as a physical low block scorer with a variety of post moves. McKinney has a nice arsenal with her back-to-the-basket. She’s got a strong frame that can rebound in a crowd. She looks ready to earn more minutes with the southeast’s best high school team.
2022 5-7 CG [player_tooltip player_id="194708" first="Cayla" last="Cowart"] – FBC Black JG – West Forsyth
Crafty [player_tooltip player_id="194708" first="Cayla" last="Cowart"]. Triple C’s ambidextrous play bodes well for the next level. She’s able to score with both hands from 10-feet out. Cowart scores with floaters and scoop shots and keeps defenses off balance with her ability to switch hands. She’s got a knack for playmaking and is a good passer especially in transition. I expect D-II programs to jump on her quickly to kick off her recruitment.
2023 5-9 W [player_tooltip player_id="188323" first="La’Niyah" last="Foster"] – FBC Bouncenation Jay 2022 – Lovejoy
Where will Lovejoy turn to replace the scoring output left behind by [player_tooltip player_id="118032" first="Genesis" last="Bryant"] and [player_tooltip player_id="118030" first="Anaya" last="Boyd"]? While it most likely will be more of a by committee approach, expect [player_tooltip player_id="188323" first="La’Niyah" last="Foster"] to have plenty of opportunities to impact games with her versatile skill set. Foster consistently piled in points throughout the offseason. She’s tough around the basket, finishing through length and contact. Foster does damage both inside and out, and can produce points from the perimeter. With her motor and nose for the ball, Foster could be an important piece in the near future.
2022 6-0 G [player_tooltip player_id="148861" first="Flau’jae" last="Johnson"] – FBC Bouncenation Jay – Sprayberry
High Major offers poured in during the month of July. Johnson is a smooth playmaker with a knack for scoring. Her size and athleticism help her get downhill at ease and score in the paint. Johnson creates her own offense on the perimeter with the dribble and can knock down outside shots. Has the potential to be an advanced defender with more commitment.
2022 6-1 W [player_tooltip player_id="148863" first="Claire" last="Davis"] – Justus League – Cass
A point-forward that affects games in a multitude of ways, [player_tooltip player_id="148863" first="Claire" last="Davis"] is a burgeoning star. She can play 1-5 and do so effectively. Davis plays with a ruggedness inside, able to rebound and protect the paint. Davis can help set up the offense with the ball in her hands. She’s a good passer and does damage at the high post. She’s got a nice outside shot but can also drive the ball. She had one of the best performances of the summer when she tore apart a roster with three High Major forwards.
