Melanie Delascurain-6’0
Delascurain is long and athletic and she was one of the first players I zoned in on when I walked in the gym during warmups and watching her not only attack the basket but handle the ball under pressure while doing it was nice, not to mention her finishing multiple ways but guess what else, she played the passing lane and rebounded on both ends, not to leave out, she ran the floor
Sadie Clemons-5’10
Clemons has my initials and I definitely enjoyed her “work ethic” because she immediately sent a message by diving on the floor off the top but she not only battled after everything, she attacked the basket vigorously while finishing after contact but her inside play didn’t stop there as she rebounded, on both ends, ran the floor and played the passing lane and her ballhandling got her easy baskets after the steal
Evelyn Quiroz-5’6
Quiroz isn’t an urban legend from Laredo, she’s a living legend, and when the newspaper sends their sportswriter/photographer to cover her in Houston, shall I stop now? Why should I, she didn’t so the hesitation, the crossover or just attacking right down the middle, she got me going early but her court vision and body control, not to mention creating her shot had me asking what else can she do, well the three-ball is pure and she catch and shoot it
Isabella Gonzalez-5’8
Gonzalez showed great BB-IQ at Duel States Girls Combine, nothing has changed but I caught great timing on blocks, she also rebounded strongly as well as showed the pull-up jumper but she plays within herself and understands how to help the team
Jazmine Taylor-5’4
Taylor also was at the Duel States but she turned up the volume even more by attacking the basket relentlessly as well as handling the ball under pressure but that combined with her first step put her in several “and one” opportunities as she created her shot, under pressure as well and even showed the step-back
Kierra Anstee-5’5
Antsee wasn’t antsy on the court as she played under control and let the game come to her but when she hit the long ball, then another and then another, I’m thinking “uh-oh” but not only did she shoot the long ball well, she also showed she could create her shot as well as “catch and shoot” with accuracy
I’ll break the Individual Showcase down multiple ways later, just wanted to give you a tease and follow me @girlzprepreport everywhere, well FB, Twitter, and The Gram
