Taylor Cross-5’5 G (Episcopal HS)
Cross knowledge of the game is beyond her years if you read the opening paragraph you’ll probably get it but playing smart, playing within yourself and a solid skillset definitely applies but watch Cross with the crossover as well as the pull-up jumpers from mid to long-range gave me some definite OMG moments but when she was rebounding against taller players and scoring off the putback, that did it
Tamia Moody-5’8 G (Clear Brook HS)
Moody was one the most athletic guards at the showcase and she understands how to use every bit of it to her advantage. She slices by defenders off the dribble and finishes strong but she also did a good job of using that same athleticism of the defensive end, showing she could apply pressure baseline to baseline. She doesn’t force anything yet manages to score in the flow
Aliyah Solis-5’6 PG (Lamar Consolidated HS)
Solis does a really good job of creating her shot, even when the double team came at her and her ballhandling played a big role in that happening. She waits for the right moment, then she shows either the stutter-step or change of pace yet her pull-up jumper was nice in the half-court but that stop and pop in transition wasn’t bad either as she dropped it consistently
Trinity Santasiero05’8 G (Cypress Creek HS)
Santasiero caught my eye years ago dropping the long ball effortlessly and guess what, she still has my eyes on her but the long ball is deeper and she is catching and shooting it, accurately but that’s not all she does as her ballhandling under pressure has improved, she sees the floor better but watching her create off the dribble and attack or take the midrange gives her legitimate options to score
2023
Noel Warrior-5’7 Combo (Casady College Prep)
Warrior loves transition and she can the break going handling the ball quite well in the open court while being pressure but going full speed and hitting teammates on the money isn’t as easy as it sounds, she makes it look easy but she was another talented guard that create her shot, again under pressure, and hit the mid to long-range consistently
JaNii Bibbs-5’6 G (Stafford HS)
Bibbs has always been athletic, I remember the first time I watched her a few years ago playing the passing lane and making layups galore, she still does but she can also take defenders off the dribble almost effortlessly yet instinctively because if you gave her an opening, she’s gone. Attacking the basket is just part of what she does after creating, she has a nice outside shot also
Reagan Hart-5’8 G (Cypress Falls HS)
Hart reminded me of so many 5’8 players that dominated those at the magic number so let me drop #THROWBACK on her because she won’t back down and you better bring your lunch because she’s in it for the long haul. She understands her strength and power and uses her body wisely but she doesn’t mind contact, giving or taking and she shows that when she attacks the rim
