Point guards, shooting guards, combo guards, you name it, I’ve added seven of those types of players that stood out in the 2022 class from a variety of events I covered and remember, place yourself in a position to be seen, Texas is HUGE and if you think you see more players or no more about evaluating, you might be right in theory but in reality which brings to a player that just went off at Pass Tha Ball #Select40 in Houston and I told her dad I had never seen his daughter, he mentioned he followed me on social media and he said he never bothered me because I don’t like people sending me stuff and he’s right but she could actually play at the next level without a problem so I’m glad she was in front of me

Jackson showed out at the Select 40 and there was no way she wouldn’t be selected on my update. She explodes off the dribble to the rim and finishes strongly or she can just pull-up for the jumper but watching her in the open court was an absolute treat as she zig-zagged through defenders with ease. She also has the range and can shoot the three, well catch and shoot the three
[player_tooltip player_id="202480" first="Tiona" last="Amos"]-5’9 Combo (Plano East) Lady Drive Nation
Amos dropped some fadeaway jumpers at the Skills Pays Bills Individual Showcase and that definitely caught my eye as well as her defense but watching her at one of the PBR events control the temp and show she could run a team was equally if not more impressive because she understands how to set teammates up and makes the right decisions, especially under pressure
[player_tooltip player_id="202481" first="Mercedes" last="Mancha"]-5’7 SG (Alvin HS) Houston Skyrise
Mancha and her older sister, Andrea, who is playing at the next level, are one of the best long-ball shooting sister duos that have come from the area however watching Mercedes improve on every aspect has been a pleasure to see because she understands how to create her shot under pressure and either take midrange or all the way to the rim where she finishes after contact. Always under control, she plays within herself but she can flat out take over if needed
[player_tooltip player_id="202483" first="Stevie" last="Stinchcomb"]-5’7 PG (McAlister HS) Lone Star Magic
Stinchcomb falls into the heady PG type I’ve seen play for her coach for over 15 years and not only does she play smart, but she’s also tough and when you throw in vocal on the court, all are solid intangibles. She handles the ball under pressure, sees the floor nicely, and can score, either midrange or off the dribble as well as hit teammates while she’s attacking the rim
[player_tooltip player_id="202485" first="Victoria" last="Dixon"]-5’5 PG (South Grand Prairie HS) Texas Elite 16U 3SSB
Dixon can run a team yet she can also score so I probably should call her a combo yet at the next level, she’ll more than likely play the one. Why do I say that, well she makes plays and she makes players around her better, she makes passes that aren’t there look easy and that’s not easy plus she has a nice pull-up jumper but on top of all of that, she reads the floor and both ends and plays the passing lane
[player_tooltip player_id="202487" first="Jamyria" last="Ramsey"]-5’6 PG (Weiss HS) Austin Elite RFW
Ramsey has been under my radar for what seems like a lifetime and as I’ve said numerous times, there’s fast and there’s fast with the ball yet over the years, her ability to go a hunnid and stay under control has been amazing yet she has also learned to control the tempo. She makes very good decisions, her mom is her HS coach and played at Baylor, so that speaks volumes but while I’m turning it up, her long ball shooting falls into "zone buster" status and she may be the fastest person with the ball I’ve seen that can stop on a dime and nail a three, at any level
[player_tooltip player_id="202488" first="Empress" last="Roberts"]-5’6 PG (Harker Heights HS) Nike Pro Skills Austin
Roberts was one of the standouts at the Girls Elite Combine I covered earlier in the season and her defense, as well as her creating her, shot, and attacking the rim all stood out but fast forward to last months Tyrone Johnson Showcase and she gave me even more. Yes, I knew she could play the passing lane and understood how to properly trap but she also showed she could run a team as well as handle the ball under pressure but at both events, another great asset was "she never takes a play off"
