2022 Rankings: Point Guards to Know With the new rankings of the Class of 2022 being release, Prep Girls Hoops has highlighted some of the point guards that have made the list. Having a impact point guard is so important for the flow and energy of a team. These guards all play with high motors, high confidence and have great feels for the game. They understand their role and are impact facilitators and 2-way basketball players. #12 [player_tooltip player_id="132377" first="Demetria" last="Prewitt"] Prewitt’s game is really flourishing as she continues to rise her ranking and stock for being an exceptional point guard at the next level. She simply sees the floor and understands the flow of the game so well. Her court vision is outstanding and it shows through the way she finds her teammates and creates a game for herself. Prewitt’s hesitation and attack move are advanced. At 5’7, Prewitt plays much taller and her ability to create space before a shot and consistently knock it down makes her such a valuable asset for the next level. Last season as a sophomore Prewitt averaged 14.3 points and 4 assists per game. Watch out for her this season as she joins forces with the number one player in the state, [player_tooltip player_id="171810" first="Aaliyah" last="Smith"]. #17 [player_tooltip player_id="132380" first="Ashlyn" last="Yow"] Yow is another elite athlete who seems to improve an aspect of her game every time she competes. She’s a smooth point guard who is steady and composed at all times. I love her attitude on the floor- she’s mature and confident. She brings an energy that makes her teammates better and more focused as well. Yow already holds a Division 1 offer from Tennessee State and will continue to gather more interest as her junior season unfolds. She’s a floor general and excels and finds her post players open inside. She can take over a game offensively with her ability to change speed and direction when attacking the rim. She’s added a smooth pull up jumper that I have not seen stopped yet. She can shoot it from deep as well. #22 [player_tooltip player_id="132385" first="Toniah" last="Williams"] Williams has found ways to stand out and become a leader for both of her high school and grassroots squads. She really stepped up as a freshman and has continued to be a floor general and impact player despite her age. Her stock has risen as she adds versatility to her game and understands her role. She’s a scrappy guard who has become an impact two-way player. Her defense is in your face, hands crazy and her footwork is elite. She sees so many points off the opposing team’s turnovers. A pass-first type player her freshman season, Williams entered her high school season and took over with her offensive game and ability to shoot the lights out of the gym. During her sophomore season she averaged 20.1 points per game and 7.5 assists. #23 [player_tooltip player_id="155423" first="Emma" last="Krueger"] Krueger is a dynamic point guard with great potential in the point guard or the combo guard position. She’s an aggressive guard who can easily slide off the ball because of her size and movement. She’s extremely athletic with great defensive ability. Krueger can adjust in the air, finish through and over contact, and rebound her position very well because of her athleticism. She is an overall very balanced player both physically and figuratively. Her mechanics are good- her shooting form is high and tight. She is a super complete player who can take over a game but also seems so comfortable getting her teammates involved. Her eyes are always up and her transition passing is beyond impressive. #32 [player_tooltip player_id="132394" first="Sidney" last="Scruggs"] Scruggs is just scratching the surface! Her handles and court vision are elite. Scruggs had a breakout sophomore year at Milwaukee Riverside and proved that her size is something college coaches do not have to worry about. Her ability to create space off the dribble, knock down the perimeter basket or attack the rim is unmatched. She uses her body so well inside that she is consistently drawing fouls or finishing strong at the basket. Scruggs has quickness and explosiveness on the offensive end that make her so tough to defend. Scruggs does well finding her open teammates and is always looking to make the pass-first highlight play. However, if Scruggs focuses on being a primary scorer this season Milwaukee Riverside may be a team to beat. #51 [player_tooltip player_id="204135" first="Imani" last="Ninham"] The West De Pere standout really does it all for her squad. Not necessarily a point guard for her high school program, Ninham plays combo guard and can sometimes be found in the post. However, when watching Ninham compete her facilitating and floor general skills are more than noticeable. Her composure and patience on the floor are perfect for the point guard position. She has great positional height and ability to handle the ball on the perimeter confidently. Last season she averaged 13 points per game. She is a sniper from beyond the arc and has such a smooth release to her shot.
