Continue ReadingThe forward position has been redefined. Small and Power Forward can handle the ball more like guard. Centers are pretty much extinct. Well not extinct, they just have different skill sets and don’t clog up the lane. Its about spacing, spacing and more spacing. Can you step out the lane and knock down the three? Here are some of PGH Dakota’s top forwards.
Logan Bly Logan Bly 6'0" | SF Garretson | 2023 State SD 5’11 Power Forward Garrettson H.S., Sacred Hoops
Bly is a vital piece for Garrettson. She adds another strong and versatile post player to their mix. Bly will be able to take some of the pressure of off Liz Olson.
Hannah Harpe Hannah Harpe 6'0" | SF Sioux Falls Washington | 2023 State SD 6’0 Small Forward Sioux Falls Washington H.S., SD Network
The argument between the Harpe sister’s is always who’s taller, Hannah has the edge in that. Her length and strength give the opposition fits. She can play multiple positions from the two guard to the stretch four. A terror in transition, combined with an array of moves, makes her hard to handle from end to end.
Shalayne Nagel 5’11 Small Forward Avon H.S., SD Attack
Nagel’s been making noise since 8th grade. She was playing behind some great talent at Avon. However, now is the time she will take control of the wheel. Nagel is an animal on the boards. She has a natural rebounding sense. Not only does she go get them but she goes up with authority. After she snatches the rebound, her athleticism takes over. She can push the ball in transition, find open shooters and/or attack the rim.
Kamryn Wadsworth Kamryn Wadsworth 5'10" | SF Hamlin | 2023 State SD 5’9 Small Forward Hamlin H.S., SD Attack
Wadsworth is coming off a great summer campaign. She picked up a few offers from Northern State University, Wayne State University, Minnesota-Moorhead and University of Sioux Falls. Wadsworth is a smart player and has tons of potential. Her scoring ability will be at the forefront even more this up coming season.
Bergen Reilly Bergen Reilly 6'1" | PF O'Gorman | 2023 State SD 6’1 Power Forward, O’Gorman H.S.
Bergen Reilly Bergen Reilly 6'1" | PF O'Gorman | 2023 State SD will get a lot of minutes this upcoming season. She is one of few posts returning to the O’Gorman roster. Reilly is long and taller; her frame makes her look taller then 6’1. She can run the floor well, which may be vital to OG’s success. The knights may look to speed up the game with a guard heavy roster. Look out for Reilly to position herself to clean of the boards, rim dive and protect the paint a little more.
Emma Yost Emma Yost 5'11" | PF Wagner | 2023 State SD 5’11 Power forward Parkston H.S., SD Attack
Yost is another solid post from Class A. During this Covid-restricted grassroots season, Yost was able to stay with the pack of elite players. Yost has a great face up game, where she can square up, give you a few jabs and take the best available shot.
Gracie Traphagen Gracie Traphagen 5'11" | PF Groton Area | 2023 State SD 5’11 Power Forward Groton Area H.S., SD Attack
A third team All-Northeast Conference member this past season, Traphagen continued to thrive. This summer she picked up offers from University of Mary and Minnesota-Moorhead. She is strong in the post and seals her defenders well. Can shoot from the three really well. Not true stretch four but has the capability to be.
