Continue ReadingThe thing about me is that I may sound repetitive yet what I’ve found over the years is that many don’t read and choose to listen to nonsense and foolishness and that puzzles me for a number of reasons because when I searching for info on girl’s basketball when my daughters were playing, not a lot of stuff came up as I didn’t really know who the major players were and to be honest, I’m sorry I found who many were because this stuff is political, but not with me and for those first-time readers, I base things on what I see, not doctored stats,, not deepfake videos or verifiable information from trustworthy sources yet these first five were called #D1LOcks by me the first time I saw them either in 6th or 7th grade, I’m putting out there so BLUE STAR won’t come back and say I copied his list again which shows the ignorance and arrogance but here you go
Gwendlyn McGrew Gwendlyn McGrew 6'0" | CG Pasadena Memorial | 2024 State TX -6’0 CG (Dobie HS) Reps Up
McGrew is simply amazing, not just because of her size and athleticism, it’s how she has put it all together and added power. She’s gone from that 7th grader dropping 30 footers to a player that can go coast to coast and spin in the paint, from either side and finish with either hand. She rebounds, defends, and sees the floor, and as good as she is, her mindset is she wants to be the best she can be so her upside is unlimited so the question isn’t will she be a National Top 100 player, it’s a matter of how high, btw, BCS offers on the table now
Justice Carlton Justice Carlton 6'1" | PF Seven Lakes | 2024 State TX -6’2 PF (Seven Lakes HS) Cy Fair Elite Nike Coop
Carlton impressed the first time I saw her yet I didn’t have a roster and I wrote nothing yet she changed teams and I received a roster and the rest is history, on that matter as she’s about to make some history in Katy at Seven Lakes. She’s tall, yet she’s long and athletic, I call that the base, and although she plays post primarily, she’s developed enough offensively to put in some legitimate power forward work as she finishes with players hanging on her and can put it on the floor and score
Kaelyn Hamilton Kaelyn Hamilton 5'10" | SF McKinney North | 2024 State TX -5’10 SF Cy Fair
Hamilton is powerful, she just left me speechless at Pass Tha Ball Super 60 and solidified at She’s Ballin Individual Showcase so her being one of the top players after those two events, keep in mind there were players heading to college in both, that falls into the “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” category but she rebounds powerfully on both ends and finishes the same way. Applies pressure on the defense, in half-court or even full court but her ability to score facing the basket makes her a multiple threat
Kendall Robinson Kendall Robinson 5'9" | SG North Crowley | 2024 State TX -5’11 Texas Savage
Robinson was in the 6th grade playing up when I asked what HS she would be attending, need I say more. She had an injury the next year yet came back with a vengeance as she players taller than her “just under the magic number” height and she’s strong but watching her play all positions after the injury told me a lot, she rebounds, defends, can handle the ball, see the floor and score, with her back to the basket or facing the basket and her desire is second to none
Kennedy Evans Kennedy Evans 5'11" | SG Legion Prep Academy | 2024 State TX -5’9 SG (Braswell HS) Cy Fair Nike Coop
Evans was dropping the long ball when I made a wasted trip to Dallas after being misled but I always try to find something positive and her mom had sent me a roster about the team, not mentioning her daughter one time. Well after 4 threes in a row, I walked to her mom and asked “who is that kid” and she responded “oh that’s my baby” and I was overwhelmed yet the threes are deeper, she creates her shot off the dribble, the release is smooth and accurate and she can choose the midrange or just attack the rim and finish acrobatically
