Class of 2022 Rankings: Jacobs New Additions/Stockrisers (Part 1)

With every Rankings update, our staff likes to highlight players who are new to the Rankings or have made significant jumps in each class. Here are several from the Class of 2022 that have seen their ranking rise in the newest update: <ol start="13"> <li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="124871" first="Joy" last="Bergstrom"], 5’9” Guard, Saint Viator</strong></li> </ol> One of the top players I saw on the AAU circuit this summer, Bergstrom continues to show that she can score the ball well at all levels. She plays the Combo Guard position at a high-level with her sound ball-handling skills and ability to get in the lane and make plays. Joy is a terrific shooter from deep and thrives in the transition game with or without the ball due to her excellent decision making and finishing ability at the rim. <ol start="14"> <li><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="78769" first="Sydney" last="Harris"], 6’0” Guard, Edwardsville</strong></li> </ol> Rising in the Rankings after an impressive Summer of basketball, Harris can play any of the Guard spots with her wide range of skills. She is a high-level shooter from deep who uses her length to shoot over challenging defenders. In addition to shooting the three, Sydney uses her strength well in the lane to get easy looks at the hoop and finish through contact. <ol start="20"> <li><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="203009" first="Lola" last="Lesmond"], 6’0” Guard, Evanston</strong></li> </ol> Entering the Rankings for the first time at #20, Lesmond is a strong Guard with good length who can shoot lights out from three. She is a high-IQ player who can handle the ball well out on the wing and score in the lane. Lola is a versatile defender with strength and length, which allows her to bring down rebounds frequently. <ol start="21"> <li><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="203003" first="DonYeil" last="Bolton"], 6’3” Forward, Kenwood</strong></li> </ol> Making her first appearance in the rankings at #21, Bolton has begun to gain recognition as a tough matchup in the low post. Her length and strength help her impact the game on the defensive end as a good shot-blocker and great rebounder. DonYeil knows how to win position on the block so her teammates can get her the ball for easy finishes, and has shown an evolving jumper from the elbow extended. <ol start="23"> <li><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="203004" first="Isabella" last="Finnegan"], 5’11” Forward, Mother McAuley</strong></li> </ol> Finnegan is a Forward/Guard who uses her well-rounded game to make an impact all over the court. She has good ball-handling skills and an excellent outside shot, and the length and skill to find success against post players on the block. Isabella clearly understands the game very well and uses that to find openings and mismatches throughout the game. <ol start="27"> <li><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="160149" first="Alecia" last="Doyle"], 5’7” Guard, Carterville</strong></li> </ol> Making a big leap in the Rankings to the #27 spot, Doyle is an electric Combo Guard with tremendous speed and shiftiness with the ball in her hand. She wins her one-on-one matchups on the perimeter and makes good decisions in the lane with passes to open teammates or a nice mid-range pull up jumper. Alecia has a great basketball IQ and crashes the boards hard on both ends of the floor. <ol start="28"> <li><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="203006" first="Nyla" last="Walker"], 5’6” Guard, Mother McAuley</strong></li> </ol> Similar to Doyle, Walker is a dynamic Point Guard who turned a lot of heads this summer with her impressive style of play. She is fast and elusive with the ball and shows great court vision at all times. Nyla beats most defenders off the dribble and possesses a smooth pull-up jump shot and makes eye-opening passes to her teammates regularly. <ol start="30"> <li><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="203002" first="Emily" last="Lukowski"], 5’8” Guard, Cary-Grove</strong></li> </ol> Lukowski is an athletic Shooting Guard with good length who can handle the ball well against pressure. She pushes the ball often in transition and finishes strong and creatively at the rim. Emily is active on defense and uses her length and quick hands to come away with steals often, which translate into easy buckets on the other end. <ol start="31"> <li><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="203011" first="Breana" last="Dugans"], 5’6” Guard, Argo</strong></li> </ol> A strong and crafty Point Guard, Dugans enters the Rankings for the first time at #31 after a solid AAU season. She thrives in an up-tempo game with her smooth handles and ability to fly past defenders for easy looks at the hoop. Breana is a plus shooter from deep and plays tough on-ball defense on opposing PG’s throughout the game. <ol start="32"> <li><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="203007" first="Zosia" last="Wrobel"], 6’0” Forward, Geneva</strong></li> </ol> Wrobel is a strong and athletic Forward who can stretch the floor with her ability to shoot the ball from deep. She moves well without the ball and runs the floor well in transition so her teammates can find her for open looks. Zosia uses her length and athleticism to guard a variety of players and bring down rebounds at a high rate. <ol start="33"> <li><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="158267" first="Hailey" last="Markworth"], 5’9” Guard, Lyons Township</strong></li> </ol> Rising in the Rankings after a solid Summer with the IL Lady Lightning, Markworth is a consistent Combo Guard with a high upside. She is strong with the ball and has shown that she can win one-on-one battles on the perimeter and make plays in the lane. Hailey is a ‘hustle’ player with a high motor as she always chases down loose balls and rebounds to put her team in a position to win. <ol start="35"> <li><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="203005" first="Avery" last="Larson"], 6’3” Forward, Antioch</strong></li> </ol> Larson is a high-level interior Post Player who impacts the game on both ends of the floor. She uses her long arms to block and alter shots and makes it difficult for opposing Posts to get clean looks. On offense, Avery knows how to use her body to win position on the block and makes good decisions when the ball comes her way.
