Grassroots Superlatives: 2021 Best Shooters
Superlatives for the best of the best that I saw this offseason.
5-7 PG [player_tooltip player_id="118100" first="De’Mauri" last="Flournoy"] – FBC United – Carrollton – Vanderbilt
The future Commodore is a knockdown shooter. When she gets loose, teams know about it. She flourished off the ball when playing with [player_tooltip player_id="118095" first="Raven" last="Johnson"] and cashed in a plethora of threes. Her shooting is among the elite in Georgia and will take her a long way in college.
5-7 PG [player_tooltip player_id="148896" first="Isabel" last="Davenport"] – EOTO Black – Lumpkin County<img class="size-medium wp-image-186585 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/07/IMG_6525-300x197.jpg" alt="[player_tooltip player_id="148896" first="Isabel" last="Davenport"]" width="300" height="197" />
The three-point shot of [player_tooltip player_id="148896" first="Isabel" last="Davenport"] is the great equalizer. When playing bigger and faster teams, if the ball swung around to Davenport, you could count on three points being added to the scoreboard. She’s able to shoot off the dribble while navigating screens and does a good job of getting her feet set when waiting for ball reversals.
5-9 SG [player_tooltip player_id="118105" first="Olympia" last="Chaney"] – FBC BounceNation Jay 2021
[player_tooltip player_id="118105" first="Olympia" last="Chaney"] hit big threes all throughout the summer. She’s a reliable floor spacer that has gotten even better when attacking the basket. She’s got quality size at the guard spot and knows how to find openings in the defense.
5-8 CG [player_tooltip player_id="186285" first="Mone" last="Florence"] – Team Elite Dave – Eagle’s Landing
[player_tooltip player_id="186285" first="Mone" last="Florence"] is a fearless three-point shooter that can carry an offense once she gets hot. She’s got deep range that puts defenses in a bad position, having to stretch all the way out to cover her. Florence is lethal when playing off the ball, but is more that content with drilling threes off the dribble.
5-8 PG [player_tooltip player_id="153101" first="Carly" last="Fahey"] – Atlanta Cagers BlueChip Storms – Hebron Christian
Known for her passing, [player_tooltip player_id="153101" first="Carly" last="Fahey"] was also efficient from beyond the arc. She’s a textbook shooter that gets a good base under her and always locates the rim quickly. Fahey shot very well over the summer and that will continue into the winter.
