If you are unaware of, or don’t believe that the state of Michigan is a hotbed for girls basketball talent, just look at the national rankings. They are definitely agreeing with the in state scouts who believe that Michigan is one of the most talented states in the country.
ESPN recently released its class of 2021 top 100 prospect rankings. It was easy to see that Michigan players littered the top 100. The state had a whopping 6 athletes placed in the top 50.

#18
North Carolina commit
I love to see Wiggins in the top 20. But with her defensive game, the top 15 is very realistic. Wiggins plays the entire court and is a leader at heart.
[player_tooltip player_id="4132" first="Damiya" last="Hagemann"] (PG, Detroit Edison)
#23
Michigan State commit
A ranking of 23 puts her among the elite players in the country. I’ll stand by my belief that with her playmaking and passing, she’s a top 10-15 player in the country. Hagemann program building potential.
[player_tooltip player_id="27970" first="AJ" last="Ediger"] (PF, Hamilton)
#39
Iowa commit
Ediger can dominate on a 2 dribble drive and is a force on the glass. She has a ton of upside that Hawkeye fans should be excited about. Ediger is a threat to score from almost anywhere.
Breanne Salenbien (SF, Lenawee Christian)
#44
Gonzaga commit
Salenbien is the type of player that I refuse to cap as far as potential. She is long and athletic, and an incredibly difficult matchup for any team on the wing. Honestly, don’t be surprised if we end up watching Salenbien play professional basketball.
Kaybrianna Hallman (SF, East Kentwood)
#46
Xavier commit
Hallman is leaping up the rankings nationally. She attacks the passing lanes on defense and pushes the ball with the pass. Hallman is a terrific finisher in transition.
[player_tooltip player_id="4142" first="Jillian" last="Brown"] (CG, East Grand Rapids)
#50
Northwestern commit
Brown will be a key player at Northwestern over the next 4 years. She can play on or off the ball. Wildcat fans will love to see her shooting the 3 ball.
[player_tooltip player_id="138298" first="Ally" last="VanTimmeren"] (PF, Jenison)
#95
Boston College commit
VanTimmeren is a force in the paint. Just like in high school, I see her as a double-double threat nearly every game at the next level.
