With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the top players in Region 5
Isabelle Boyer, Grant County
Boyer stuffed the stat sheet for the Coyotes last year, averaging 23 points and 12 rebounds while earning all-state honors. She’s efficient and capable of scoring from all over the floor, making her one of the most difficult players to defend in the state. Grant County should be one of the contenders in the region, and they’ve got the best singular player in the region – and one who is capable of dominating a game unlike anyone else in the area.
Grace Kelly Grace Kelly 6'1" | SF Shiloh Christian | 2022 State ND , Shiloh Christian
Kelly led the Skyhawks in scoring as a sophomore, averaging better than 14 points and six rebounds, helping Shiloh reach a second-straight state tournament. She’s one of the toughest players in the region to match up with as her height and activity level is oftentimes too much for smaller defenders, but her ability to handle the ball and shoot with touch create problems for bigger counterparts.
Jacie Hall, Shiloh Christian
Hall is one of the best two-way centers in Class B, as she’s a dominant defensive presence and a steady interior scorer. She averaged 12 points and eight rebounds per game helping the Skyhawks reach the state tournament – and she was terrific in the state tournament – while anchoring a very strong defensive group. She’ll be one of the featured players for Shiloh Christian this winter and pairs with KElly to form one of the best interior tandems in the state.
Faith Marion, Flasher
Marion’s been a rock-solid piece for Flasher each of the last two years and a consistent double-figure scorer for a team that has been among the best teams in the region. With the Alt sisters gone, Marion will ascend into the presumed go-to scorer on the perimeter and she’s got the ability to do it at a high level.
Tymber Boldt, Flasher
Boldt is one of the top rebounders in the area and nightly double-double threat for a Flasher team that should expect to contend in the region. With the Alt sisters gone to graduation, Boldt will have more offensive responsibility as a senior and her ability to supply interior production will be a big key.
Hailey Quam Hailey Quam 5'11" | SF Shiloh Christian | 2023 State ND , Wilton-Wing
Quam is on her way to being one of the best overall players in the state. She was a force for Wilton/Wing last season, consistently providing double-figure points and rebounds while getting it done on both ends of the floor. She earned all-region honors as just a freshman and has a good chance to climb the ladder even higher over the next three seasons.
Karlie Klein, Garrison
Klein emerged as one of the best players for the Troopers, helping the team win 11 games and reach the region tournament. She’s got double-double potential heading into her sophomore season as her activity level and skill allow her to produce efficiently and consistently.
Sophie Sparrow, Turtle Lake-Mercer/McClusky
Sparrow’s been a double-figure scorer for the Trojans each of the last two years and is the go-to scorer for a team that wins consistently in large part because of good defense (and in spite of the offense). She’s an athletic presence who can defend multiple positions and her value to her team stems from that end of the floor perhaps just as much as her ability to generate offense.
Kennady Walth, Shiloh Christian
Walth is a key X-factor for the Skyhawks and helps set the tone of the perimeter. She averaged six points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals per game as a sophomore and while the success of the team will always start and finish with its interior players, Walth’s ability to influence the game from the point will be a critical development too.
