Amber Mateo - (2022) 5’4 Keysgate Charter
Mateo is a player who I have previously covered, and I was still in awe of her range. The Keysgate Junior has a confidence about her that was fun to watch. She is the type of player who only needs a small amount of daylight, and she’s letting it fly. Her ability to knock down threes will have her on a college court soon. She is the type of player that the defense has to over-communicate where she is on the floor, lose her behind the arc, and its going to be a long night. I knew what Mateo was capable of, but to see the consistency in person really impressed me at the Top250.
[player_tooltip player_id="166161" first="Ava" last="Stoller"] (2023) 5’6 St. Petersburg
Stoller is a hard nose, crafty point guard, with a great pull-up three-ball. Going under screens against her is ill-advised, she will shoot it off the bounce after creating for herself, and she has catch and shoot game as well. What I like most is her scrappiness defensively, but it was her ability to be a combo guard playing on the wing at times, that landed her on my top shooter’s list. Very high upside for the St. Pete Sophomore.
Madelyn Leslie (2023) 5’10 Gulf Coast
I only needed to see her let one or two fly before knowing she is a shooter, the Gulf Coast Sophomore is dangerous when spotting up. Standing at 5’10 I like her in the pick-and-pop game, screening and looking to be a threat from deep. She has a good arc on her jumper, and the type of release where when she tees one up, you just know its money.
Alexandria Keane (2021) 5’8 Grandview Prep
Keane has a good high arching jumper with good mechanics. She gets it into her shooting pocket quickly and holds her follow-through. Capable of shooting off the dribble or spotting up, she has a mid-range game as well. The Senior is coming off averaging double figures for Grandview Prep, and she isn’t afraid to shoot the big ones, and at 5’8, I like her as a solid wing at the college level.
[player_tooltip player_id="91649" first="Eleecia" last="Carter"] (2023) 5’7 Lake Highland
Carter was always looking to be aggressive, and with a jumper like hers, that’s what a coach would want. She will shoot pull-ups, and once she gets a good look at a spot-up, it’s a good look. I watched her make one off of a baseline down screen, and when screening into a fade which I really liked. Carter is a smart player, the 2023 class was fantastic, and she played a part.
[player_tooltip player_id="151184" first="Camila" last="Sosa"] (2021) 5’4 Bishop Moore
The first thing I noticed about Sosa was her toughness. A Bishop Moore product, she and [player_tooltip player_id="146966" first="Keegan" last="Brace"] play for a good TNBA South program who’s players performed well at the Top250. The senior was taught the game the right way and it shows when she’s on the floor. Like most of my Snipe Team list, she is much more than a shooter, Sosa had a couple of spin moves for layups that caught my attention. Her ability to hit the three-ball was certainly on display in Orlando.
Jazmine Major (2023) 5’5 Palm Bay
If there were an All-Hustle team at the Top250, the first name I would mention would be Jazmine Major. There were a number of gritty, tough, scrappy defenders but none played with a mentality like Major. A more than willing defender, Major took pride in getting stops and it was fun to watch. The Palm Bay Sophomore played harder than anyone while knocking down shots from deep, she showed the potential to be a 3&D player at the next level.
