They did it at #AllEyezOnMe and #TJShowcase and they had quite a few at #DuelStatesGirlsCombine so here’s a “quick hitter” on the talent as well as the progression, these names will be mentioned again as I break them down into classes and positions, just stay tuned and remember, there is no me
2021
Hallie Salazar-5’7 PG (JB Alexander HS) Wings
Salzar was smooth under pressure, handles the ball, saw the floor, and made the right passes at the right time but she also showed she could take defenders off the dribble as well as create her shot
Zaadiyah Stovall-5’10 PF (Judson HS) Fever
Stovall has POWER circled in redia in my media book because of the way she just kept coming, wait, she’s long and athletic and just did a great job attacking and finishing
Imagin Flores-5’4 SG (Earl Warren HS) Dream
Flores has always shown size didn’t matter because she’s always going to bring it, be it handling the ball, seeing the floor, or just dropping the long ball consistently
2022
Abigail Killeen-5’7 PF (Brennan HS) Mercury
Killeen just was another mode, I knew she was good and could do a lot of things but she understood what I speak of a lot “seize the opportunity” as she finished with power or dropped it from deep
Gianna Hernandez-5’5 SG (Sunnybrook Christian Academy) Liberty
Hernandez has always done something I love to see, play smart and within herself and I labeled her “heady” because of her decision making as well as the ability to create and shoot
Vivianna Solis-5’4 PG (Warren HS) Wings
Solis has COP written in the media guide and I’m certain defenders heard sirens because it’s an acronym for change of pace which she is about to master yet she attacked strongly and dropped the clutch free throws
Jada West-5’11 PF (Brennan HS) Wings
West proves #sizedoesmatter when you can play and from where she was to where she definitely has my eyes wide opened as she is rebounding, running the floor, and finishing better, still has upside but I see the work
Anissa Mata-5’4 PG (Johnson HS) Mystics
Mata is also a #sizedontmatter guard that can PLAY and the variety of symbols I have by her name will have her a couple of other Tip Sheets from the event but the “HEZ” and the “SHAKE” OMG
Trinity Barretto-5’2 SG (Robert G Cole) Dream
Barretto is listed as a shooting guard, yes she did that but she also did a solid job at handling the ball as well as seeing the floor and making under pressure
Mary Esther Sosa-5’3 SG (Edison HS) Storm
Sosa may not be related to Sammy but she dropped a home run numerous times, yeah she’s a small guard but her “catch and shoot” from deep was one of the best not to mention creating her shot
2023
Skye Stephens-5’4 PG (Earl Warren HS) Aces
Stephens has no notes in the media book, they were embedded in my head years ago so is the progression but her poise, especially under pressure running a team and her clutch shooting from everywhere wows me
Alexandria Brownlee-5’8 SG (Wagner HS) Mercury
Brownless was erroneously omitted from my Top 100 update and the numerous college coaches who asked me had I seen her before made me uneasy YET it will be corrected as her mix of power and finesse scoring is just tough
Elyse Sellers-5’10 PF (William J Brennan HS) Aces
Sellers is long and athletic and she’s showing progression on a biweekly base which is just amazing to me but attacking the rim, playing the passing lane, and showing the jumper, check, check and check
Chayse Goetz Chayse Goetz 6'0" | SF NB Canyon | 2023 State TX -5’10 SF (New Braunfels Canyon) Dream
Goetz was added to the Top 100 after going completely off the last few weeks and Duel States Combine sealed the deal yet she can shoot the midrange and create her shot and college coaches love players her size that can shoot
Ariana Rodriguez-5’4 PG (Judson HS) Liberty
Rodriguez has that little star circle around it after not only shooting it well but catching and shooting it well and I’m talking about the “money ball” in the clutch from deep but she creates her shot nicely as well
Brahja Herron-5’8 SF (Communication Arts HS) Mercury
Herron was in agony, I even felt her pain yet I had enough on her after her athleticism and defense stood out yet after mom applied ice, it quickly melted as she came back with a vengeance dropping the pull-up, I see everything and I am a REAL EVALUATOR
Maddie Velez-5’7 SG (Brennan HS) Mystics
Velez plays with so much energy and passion and just finds ways to make things happen, that’s what I have always seen yet creating her shot for the nice pull-up shows me she continues to put the work in
Aaliyah Henderson-5’4 SG (Judson HS) Mystics
Henderson uses her athleticism nicely on both ends of the court, she doesn’t mind applying full-court pressure on defense or using that same pressure to attack the rim plus she sees the floor well
Yulissa Yebra-5’11 P (Nikki Rowe) Storm
Yebra is strong, she shows that over and over with rebounding and I’m talking rebounding with power on both ends of the court but that same power is being applied to her finishing, with players hanging on her
Emery Black-5’5 PG (Canyon HS) Storm
Black has nothing but that circled star next to her name because her game has been in the BLACK since I saw her in May of 2018 and read what I said, look I already know what I’m looking at and how this will play out the majority of the time, her mindset that went with everything else assured me of how good she would become and she’s nowhere near where she’ll be and that’s scary, for those playing against her
