McKaylin Coffman-5’6 (Royse City HS) @@Mckaylinnnnn
Coffman was impressive off the bat with her ability to create her shot and take defenders off the dribble but she also showed a nice pull-up jumper from midrange so her mixing it up to attack and (or) take the jumper set up other things for her because she saw the floor and could handle the ball, especially in the open court under pressure. She escaped traps, she understood how to control the tempo ad she made plays but she also showed she could play hard defense
Kayla Fuller-5’8 (Princeton HS)
Fuller was very athletic and understood how to use it to her advantage, first her defense was strong and she applied pressure baseline to baseline as well as played the passing lane pretty good which combined with her ballhandling gave her numerous layups. On the offensive end, her first step created some problems because she was explosive off of it and attacked strongly while finishing the same way. Her jumping ability was explosive as well, she has “ups” and elevated for her shot over taller defenders
Jadyn Goodman-5’5 (San Angelo Central HS)
Goodman played within herself and managed to show her passion and energy not to mention her desire especially on defense. She applied pressure full court, showed good hands and technique, and came away with a few steals but she also did a good job of handling the ball in the half-court setting and see the floor, which led to assists or led to the pass that led to assists but she could attack the rim, even did it from both sides and finished with either hand and showed the pull-up jumper
Summer Hill-5’5 (Clear Lake HS)
Hill immediately showed she could create her shot very well and not only did she attack the rim off of that creating of the shot, but she could also attack and dish or just keep it and finish, this includes finishing after contact but she did it so smoothly that it was hard to predict which way she was going, the midrange was solid as well as the step back yet her passes on the break were on the money and watching her handle the ball coast to coast under pressure effortlessly at times was really good
Audry Hornaday-5’8 (Sharyland Pioneer HS)
Hornaday was finishing at will almost immediately at the event and her variety of acrobatic finishes combined with her athleticism kept me watching because I didn’t want to blink and miss something and since I said miss, she created her shot and rarely missed the mid-range jumper. She handles the ball well in the half-court as well as the open court, both under pressure, and watching her go coast to coast with it was also nice as she could hit the stop and pop or make the pass for an assist
Macey Romero-5’6 (West Quachita HS)
Romero was one of the best rebounders at her size and she understood positioning to grab some over taller players but you also can attribute that to her strength, which enabled her to pull some loose balls from opposing players. She is just a battler, you could see the desire and energy whenever she was on the floor and her attacking and finishing after contact was solid, her seeing the floor was as well but she also understood how to read the floor and just make plays
Clarissa Salinas-5’5 (Lorenzo HS)
Salinas also rebounded well against taller opponents but she also could handle the ball and control the tempo, that’s really important, especially under pressure in the clutch and she showed that. She can create her shot, hit the pull-up jumper as well as attack the rim and finish but she saw the floor, she defended, she played defense and she fell into that “never takes a play off” type of player” which falls back onto that intensity on defense which caused several turnovers
